- The overrun segment for Monday's edition of Monday Night Raw scored a 4.12 quarter hour rating, the highest of the show and a good sign for WWE. This would seem to indicate higher than usual interest in CM Punk's first match as World Champion. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- The Pioneer Press is reporting that Ken Kennedy will be featured in some local ads in an effort to get volunteers for the 2008 Republican National Convention. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- Due to the draft, previously advertised dark match main events of John Cena and HHH vs. JBL and Umaga for the RAW taping in New Orleans on Monday have been changed to John Cena and a Mystery Partner vs. JBL and a Mystery Partner. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- WWE allowed Jim Cornette to be interviewed on the new Ric Flair DVD that comes out Tuesday even though he currently works for TNA.

- FCW did a trial TV taping today in Tampa in front of an empty building. They wanted to get guys who had never worked a TV taping familiar with the process as well as test camera angles and production techniques. The taping will not air. They are said to have a timeslot on the local CW affiliate waiting for them and may begin shows after WrestleMania XXV. [PWInsider.com]

- There is no truth to the rumor that TNA and ROH are planning joint events in New York City. TNA and ROH do not have any sort of noteworthy relationship. ROH can book TNA talent in the same way as any other independent promotion can. [PWInsider.com]

Now Punk will keep the strap for a year, people will hate him, he'll get booed to shit at One Night Stand, Suffer a broken pec, return at a royal rumble, and feud for the title all over again....

Lol, but seriously, thats good news for Punk because it shows he draws big. BUT, the same thing happened with Cena when he won a title, and he was pushed to the moon, people turned on him, so I hope that they dont leave it on Punk TOO long, and I hope people dont treat him like shit like how they treted Cena in 06.

I think the whole Raw rating was just because of the draft result and the match resulted in NOC. I dont think it was just because of Punk winning.

^Dd you see that part (and I dont mean that in a rude way) but the whole Raw rating was up, yes, but the part with Punk in it, in the main event, was the part that went up to 4.2... ^That says alot about Punk IMO.

Good news for CM Punk, if the ratings keep going up then maybe WWE will keep the belt on him for a little longer than planned. Also, TNA/ROH not working together is a big disappointment, I was looking forward to their partnership starting up again but that won't happen and I'm guessing that it never will

Wow, that's great news. Hopefully they don't pull the belt off of Punk at GAB or SummerSlam...they reallly need to wait for Survivor Series to give the belt to Cena or Batista...hopefully Cena. But I'd love to see Punk turn heel with the World Title and turn on Mysterio, setting up Mysterio vs. Punk at SummerSlam.

The real test for Punk should be this Monday, when he carries Raw as the champion. After that, we can start saying he's a draw.

Well, assuming the numbers are indeed true, they're meaningless. A world title change happened on Raw, that's what drove the numbers up (if they did go up). It could've been fucking The Boogeyman winning the belt and numbers still would've gone up.

Ratings will always go up in the final quarter hour when there is an unexpected World title change on free TV.

Ratings would have gone up even if Matt Striker won the title because people would tune in to see what the fuck is going on.

The real test will be if Punk can maintain higher than normal ratings over a longer period of time. Anythign else can be chalked up as an aberration.
