New Super Mario Bros. 2 Announced

[No More Sorrow]

After revealing it was working on a new 2D Mario project for the Nintendo 3DS earlier this year, Nintendo has finally given that game a name - New Super Mario Bros. 2. The platformer is due to be released in both Japan and North America in August 2012.


The publisher released no concrete details about the game outside of four screenshots. The most important bit of information? The Power Leaf, and Raccoon Mario, are returning. Additionally a quote from Nintendo's Facebook page has revealed Luigi will be present in the game.

They could have at least used the same enemies from the classic Mario 2

Shame, would have been a good touch.

I enjoyed the first one but it's nowhere near SMBs 3 or SMW for that matter. One thing I liked was going back through the game to get all the secrets which added a lot of replay value. The secrets also were a lot different from other Mario games. Hopefully, they implement the same thing here.

From the looks of it... it is gonna carry over a lot of the same stuff from New Super Mario Bros. on the wii which is good. Cause that game was real fun. Just... I dunno. If it is too similar then what would be the point?

Looks like a good game however looks a bit too much from the first one.

I'd still play it 'cos it's Mario!
