Nevada commission to discuss possible Keith Kizer replacements on Friday
The Nevada State Athletic Commission will hold its next meeting on Friday, and officials plan to discuss potential replacements for the departing Keith Kizer.
Kizer, who was named the NSAC’s executive director in 2006, stepped down from his post this past week and will return to the state attorney general’s office.
Friday’s NSAC meeting takes place at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building (suite 3200, third floor) and begins at 2:30 p.m. PT local time. It’s open to the public.
The meeting has two items on the agenda: “discussion concerning recruitment and appointment of executive director,†as well as “appoint subcommittee to review applications, perform interviews and make recommendations to the full commission for the position of executive director.â€
In the combat-sports world, the NSAC executive director position is one of the highest-profile regulatory roles. The UFC, for example, holds more events in Las Vegas than any other locale, and many of boxing biggest events take place in the city.
Kizer, who said it was simply “time to go back to being an attorney,†previously served as legal counsel to the NSAC prior to taking the role of executive director from Marc Ratner, who resigned in 2006 to join the UFC as the promotion’s vice president of regulatory affairs.
Prior to his work with the attorney general, Kizer was a Las Vegas-based lawyer specializing in employment law.
