LOS ANGELES--The 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo will soon be a fading memory at the Los Angeles Convention Center once the event's third and final day wraps up this afternoon. Tonight, though, it will be a mob scene just a few hundred feet away at the Staples Center, where Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic will face off in game one of the NBA Finals. (Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. PDT.) And just ahead of the series opener, Lakers' star shooting guard Kobe Bryant has rung up another accolade to his impressive basketball career: cover star of 2K Sports' upcoming NBA 2K10.

Bryant, a three-time NBA champion with the Lakers, will be officially unveiled as the featured athlete on the cover of NBA 2K10 during a special pre-game commercial produced by Spike Lee, who recently produced a documentary on Kobe's career entitled "Kobe Doing Work". By the looks of it, the commercial will feature Lee making a case for Kobe to come to New York City to play for the Knicks, even going so far as to show Bryant in a Photoshopped Knicks jersey. 2K Sports will also allow fans to vote on their favorite version of the NBA 2K10 on the official Web site. (Unfortunately, the Big Apple Kobe won't be an option.)

This isn't the first game cover appearance for Bryant: The 11-time NBA All Star was featured on the cover of the NBA Courtside series, which briefly appeared on the Nintendo 64 and GameCube. Bryant has also appeared on the cover of Sony's hoops series, most recently alongside the likes of Paul Pierce, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James on the cover of NBA 09: The Inside.

I can't wait for this game to come out. SMH @ Bryant on the cover. I really wanted LeBron James or Dwight Howard on the cover.

All games say that.

The last basketball game I played was NBA Live 98 w/ Tim Hardaway on the cover. Once I played baseball and football for it, never played any again. And won't.

NBA Live 98 for the PS1 was awesome.
Brings me back memories...

The NBA2K series' graphics have always been the best but I hate the gameplay. It's too slow for me.
NBA Live's gameplay is better but they only need to work on the graphics.

I think of it as the other way around. 2K has better, realistic gameplay. Live is only good for their graphics.

2k had some great NFL games, along with last year's NBA game.....but baseball is a different story :smh

EDIT - I don't like Kobe, but if I had to choose which cover I wanted...the 2nd one is def. the best.

Oh yeah, I'll be getting this game. I've only bought Live games (on ps2,ps3). My brother has 360 and he plays the 2Kgames, and by what I saw, 2K is way better than Live games. So this'll be the 1st 2K game I'd get. Not off to a good start with Kobe on the cover though.

I'll be getting Live. I got 2k9 this year, and wasn't that impressed. I liked certain things, like the intros, and the gameplay, but the graphics weren't good enough. They all looked like paper guys.
