Scott Anderson, the new Senior Vice President of National Wrestling Alliances, stands at a podium, ready to address the media as well as reveal the first card of the Anderson Enterprises era; he welcomes journalists from all over and exclaims how excited he is to begin this new chapter for both the company and himself. Questions are ready to be fielded so without further ado, allow us to begin...
Q: Why was Anderson Enterprises interested in purchasing the National Wrestling Alliance?
A: "Anderson Enterprises is wide-reaching in their ventures, and National Wrestling Alliance was an acquisition that we felt would expand our brand in the media production world, with Quality Communications being among the leaders in this field. Additionally, National Wrestling Alliance is a name in the wrestling business that has both the recognition and prestige of decades past, having been founded in the late 1940s. With this in mind, we felt that the NWA as a brand would be a perfect fit for our vision of media presentation for the future."
Q: What was the driving motivation behind discontinuing your association with Tyrus?
A: "After the purchase from Mr. Corgan and the company, we had actually begun negotiations with certain parties on our roster, and Mr. Murdoch we had attempted to create some form of contractual obligations with. Certain aspects of the deal pertaining to pay and future considerations could not be agreed upon, and admittedly, it appeared the whole situation could have turned sour rather quickly, so as an organization, we took the pre-emptive measure of relieving Mr. Murdoch of his championship and his duties as an active performer in the National Wrestling Alliance."
Q: And what of the other releases within the company?
A: "Ultimately, the rest of the releases came down to where we are as an organization, and we preferred to focus on wrestling's future, rather than the past; it's with this in mind that many of the older performers within the company were let go, we wished to go in a different direction - a younger direction."
Q: How much damage do you think Billy Corgan has done to the brand with his recent decision in giving Tyrus the NWA Worlds Champion?
A: "Personally, I do not wish to speculate whether any damage had been done to our newly acquired brand in the latter half of the Corgan era; we are well aware of Mr. Murdoch's alleged misconduct, and we are also aware of the social media firestorm that followed his victory for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. We have already publicly disclosed that the allegations ultimately did play a part in how we approached negotiations with Mr. Murdoch. We are hoping to bring a renewed interest in the product and a fresh perspective to the brand. We are working tirelessly to promote the National Wrestling Alliance as a company to be trusted and revered, both in purpose and action."
Q: Are there any plans to bring in more established names to raise the NWA's profile, and entice eyes onto the brand?
A: "Well that almost goes without saying. We are constantly striving to sign big-name talent to extend the appeal of the National Wrestling Alliance to not only the American audience but the international audience as well."
Q: Do you plan on working with other promotions like All Elite Wrestling?
A: "As it stands, we are sad to announce that we have officially retracted any deals with Impact Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and Ring of Honor; this decision was not made with any malicious intent, nor was it made without careful consideration to our position. It is the position of the National Wrestling Alliance that we must first focus on building our brand through internal performers and wrestlers before we can reasonably expand outward through other companies' stars."
Q: How did you convince Nick Aldis to return to the NWA?
A: "We were very much aware of the friction that had grown between Mr. Corgan and Mr. Aldis as a difference in creative direction. It took many weeks of discussion, but we persuaded Mr. Aldis with future considerations and a position within the company following his eventual retirement from active competition, should he remain at that time. A sizeable wage was also negotiated. In the end, the decision to return came down to Mr. Aldis, and he wished to return under new management."
Q: "What will the future of NWA events look like?"
A: "As it stands, our current schedule of major shows is, for the near future, set as such: Into the Fire is set for March, Grand March in June, the Anniversary Show in August, and Last Stand in November. In between these major events, we will be hosting more minor events here and there for the purpose of promoting the brand throughout the United States."
Q: Will there be a second EmPowerrr in the future?
A: "It is with much regret that EmPowerrr is currently not in the cards for the foreseeable future. Until we can focus on rebuilding the brand of the National Wrestling Alliance, this ambitious and forward-thinking event will, unfortunately, be put on hold until we are comfortable bringing it back."
With many of the questions answered sufficiently, Scott Anderson and Anderson Enterprises now present the NWA Powerrr: Rebirth card.
