Things just got real folks. The UFC on Versus 4 card has been getting new additions this whole week, but today the card just got a whopper of a main event.
Nate “The Great†Marquardt will make his welterweight debut as he takes on Anthony “Rumble†Johnson in the UFC on Versus 4 main event.
The UFC announced Wednesday that verbal agreements are in place for both fighters. UFC President Dana White commented on the match-up:
“Anthony Johnson has always been one of the largest welterweights in the UFC but now former top middleweight contender Nate Marquardt will drop down and attempt a run at the welterweight title. Both of these guys are powerful strikers and grapplers and it should be a great fight.â€
Marquardt (31-10-2) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dan Miller at UFC 128 last month and Johnson (9-3) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dan Hardy at *UFC Fight Night 24 last month.
UFC on Versus 4 will take place June 26 at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Penn, and will broadcast live on the Versus sports network. Check our Upcoming Events page to see the full card line-up for UFC on Versus 4.
