Thet are plenty of case to be made for plenty of drivers on who's the G.O.A.T of NASCAR
You got Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, and Jimmie Johnson, all 3 who are tied with the most Championships at 7. Each of them won it in different era's and different formats.
Richard got a lot of his, and most of his wins at that during a time when the competition wasn't really the best, Richard's car was miles and miles better than pretty much everyone he was going against. So wins came easy, championships came easy, but he's still The King for a reason.
Earnhardt's came when the competition was higher, and you had more drivers who could win on any given Sunday. He ended up before his death with 76 wins to go along with the 7 Championships mentioned above, not bad. It took him 20 years to win the Great American Race the Daytona 500, the same race that he would lose his life in 3 years later. Considered to be the G.O.A.T by many fans.
Jimmie Johnson, won his 7 championships when you didn't have to be the best all year, but he was the best when it mattered, he came in clutch when all the chips were on the line, and when you had to be on top of your game. He did what no other man has been able to do, and that was win FIVE Championships in a row, a feat that might not ever be beaten with the way the playoff system works now.
Then let's take a look at a driver who didn't win 7 championships, but is someone who won 4 in what is honestly considered to be one of the most competitive times in all of NASCAR. Jeff Gordon. The man is tied with most wins in a season in the Modern Era at 13(tied with Richard Petty). he was out there with the likes of Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin(a driver who many consider the best to never win a championship) and many others. Racking off wins, and championships, and he was doing it at a young age at that. He ended up with 93 career wins to go with his 4 championships.
Then let's talk about a man who never one raced a full season, but won a lot of races.
David Pearson won 0.1829% of the races he was in, He won championships in 1966, 1968 and 1969 with out ever running a full season(66, he didn't race 7, 68 he only didn't race one, and 69 he didn't race three,). In 1973, he only raced in 18 of the 28 races, and won 11 of them. He is second on the all time win list. If this man ran more races, who's to say how many wins, or championships he'd have. Could he be the G.O.A.T?
They are probably people I'm forgetting about, So, who do you consider the .G.O.A.T?
For me, it's a hard choice, but I got to say either Earnhardt or Gordon takes the take here.
