Ok, I judge PPVs by a number of things, but Cyber Sunday wasnt too bad. The Orton/HBK and Kane/MVP were the 2 worst, and it all comes down to endings. Ill have some positvies in here, dont worry
- The Mysterio/Finlay match was a solid opener IMO. Although to a fan it could have been kind of confusing as to what match was actually going on: a stretcher or shillelagh on a pole, but still not a bad start. ** 1/2
- I was really surprised to see Miz get the vote over Morrison and Vis. Nonetheless, it wasnt too bad. Didnt last too long with Punk getting the win. **
- Next we have the voting to see who will face Orton and HBK wins with no doubt. So we then have Hardy and Kennedy face off in a good match. Not great by any means, but not too bad. The title on the line would have made it more interesting, but w/e. **1/2
- Next up we actually have a title match. Since Matt Hardy can’t compete, we get to choose from Khali, Henry, or Kane to face off against MVP.....O BOY!!! Kane ends up getting voted in. I know this had to be pretty impromptu, but cmon. Very lackluster match. The ending was even worse. Ill get into that when I wrap it up, but in the end, MVP gets counted out and retains. * ¾
- Up next what the WWE Title match between Orton and Michaels. This was a very solid 15 minute title match until they had to fuck up once again. I mean seriously, there are so many other better ways to end this match besides a blaitant grab of the sack for a DQ. I mean, just have him use the ropes, or something. It just get so tiring seeing DQs in World Title matches. ***
- Then comes the Triple H/Youmanga match. The fans voted for a Street Fight. It was a fairly good match. The last 2 matches did send the fans home fairly happy, especially with them being pretty good matches. Nothing much else to say other than it was a good back and forth match. I do think the WWE is pushing Trips a bit too much here, but then again, what do ya do? *** ½
- Finally it’s the ME with Taker/Tista for the World title. They start it all out with the voting of course and JBL runs a few funny promos on why he should be the ref, but in the end, Austin wins in a landslide. Surprising? Anyways, Austin comes out and gives stunners to both Foley and JBL and clears house. As for the match, it was a great match. Id even put it up there with their Mania math. Great ender to a WWE PPV on its standards and it was a really enjoyable match TBH. All of Tista’s match should be against Taker. I don’t know what it is, but he just brings out the best in him. ****
Anyways, theres just a few things I wanna say. Overall, the PPV wasn’t too bad. I do like the concept b/c it does give you that feel of wanting to tune in to the PPV to see the results, but just the way they end some of there matches just really irks me. I don’t want to bring TNA into this, but when you look at a TNA PPV, how many DQ finishes do you see? Honestly. The last one I can remember was at No Surrender between Cage and Joe. And that wasn’t even really a DQ, that was just a no contest. The point is, don’t have DQ’s. I can see on TV on occasion, but not on PPV’s, cmon. There were a few funny segments, some cheesy, especially the Diva bullshit, which didnt need to be on the PPV, but w/e. Overall, not a bad PPV for the WWE.
