Has anyone else noticed the evolution in MVP's character? And does anyone else like it much better?
What I'm talking abou tis, for th elongest time, MVP used a gimmick of the "Most Valuable Player", and was cocky, expensive, living a life of a king, etc... Yes, it helped him get over, but everyone knew eventually it would need more. And wwe and MVP have doen good to advance thecharacter, allowing for a push.
Now, instead of just the cocky dude, they are using his past well. He's become mroe of a "gangster" type character.

You can start with his moves, which are more viscious and street like. The "drive by kick" has a sort of street name to it alone, but the move i viscious as hell too. And everything he does now with his character is more intense, sort of like a hardened gangster or something.

Then, you can look at the way he dressed. NO, this is not a stereotype. but what I'm saying is, now, instead of suits and wineglasses, you see him with baggy jeans, chains and a much more lose shirt.

Then, you can cut to his storylines. In that, he's been less about being "glamourrous" and more about being a guy who taunts others, is ruthless, adn will do anything to win. You see that in the way he's being pushed to, where he does anything to get in the maine vent thing...

Anyways, I'm not saying he's a "gangster" now, but I think they have refreshed his character, to be more of a street thug, and I really like it. Anyone else notive the change in character? And do you liek it?

MVP's character seems pretty sick now, and even though the "Highest Paid Athlete" thing was good, the ruthless thug could help him get more heat, and make him seem less like a joke.

this gimmick should catapult him to the main event, along with his feud with Hardy and kind of Benjamin right now. This feud should push both MVP and Hardy into the main event, and i wouldnt be surprised if MVP won the scramble, and kept feuding with Hardy over the belt, all in all, im loving MVP right now

I fucking hate him now. I just can't stand anyone that acts "gangster" it's Blue. Before it was fine because he acted somewhat like a normal person but now he's just way to stereotypical for me.

This is fantastic!

Well, people have said before that MVP could only be a Main event star if he could play the face as well. Well, with this change it gimmick it is now semi-possible

I mean, how could he play a face with the Highest Paid Athlete gimmick?

This change has just solidified MVP as the future, WWE Champion please.

Really? Sorry, but I think he has a bit of a right to act liek a gangster, considering it's his real life past. Alvin Burke (MVP) was arrested as a teen, and served 10 years in jail for kidnapping, armed robbery and involving himself with gangs, drugs, etc. So if his character wants to take a bit of gangster turn, I'm fine with that.
Also, as others said, I think that this will propel him to the main event as a ruthkless character...

On a side note though, in the future I see a feud between MVP and R Truth. R Truth, because in his gimmick, he's a former gangster, who went to jail and is now a new man, I could see him trying tochange MVP, but MVP just kicking his ass... Anyways, ya, I think he can act like that without it being sterotypical.

I think it's now time for MVP to win the WWE Championship

He puts on great matches week after week, even with guys like Festus he can get a *** match. Plus he is the best heel and best on the mic on SD behind Edge in my honest opinion, so I dont see why not. Triple H has gotten EXTREMELY boring as champion, the main reason I watch Smackdown is for MVP

Anyone else think it's time for 'MVThug' to win the belt?

I could care less about his past or if he has the right to act like a gangster. To me he's annoying now and again i can't stand anyone who acts like a gangster.

I love it! Much more serious now, more ruthless, aggressive. I was a huge fan of MVP in his cocky, suit wearing, days but now I just love him even more (non-gay). It's fantastic. And I would not be surprised to see MVP walk out of Unforgiven with the WWE Championship.

Oh, dont get me wrong, I also dont really like that. Usually, people who act liek "gangsters" are posers anyways, and to me, that whole "scene" is stupid, but whatever, thats a different topic. My point was, again, this is a show. And he's not acting over the top anyways, but he is acting more ruthless, violent, aggressive, etc.. I woundn't call it "gangster", but he's playing off his past. Just thought I'd clarify.

but you can dislike it, that's fine, I just don't know why, seieng as he's not "pretending" to be a gangster, just evolving his character to more of a thug.

MVP for WWE champion!

I like the gangster gimmick because it is not too stereotyped and MVP pulls it off really well, possibly due to his past. Unlike Cryme Tyme who just demeanour themselves, MVP has found a gimmick that will really propel him into the main event. As -HBK- said, Triple H is getting really boring as champ. MVP should win the belt at Unforgiven and continue his feud with Hardy/Benjamin. HHH can go back to random weekly squashing and can continue his feud with Khali. MVP as champ would really convince everyone that Smackdown is the best brand.

Heel v Heel Edge and MVP feud plz! Think of the promos!

Honestly, I dont think its that great. Being 'better than you' makes for better gimmicks and is less annoying and more entertaining. And two, you cant make a high life person going gangster. We already have R Truth

Firstly, RTruth isn't a gangster, but thanks for trying. R Truth is a face wrestler, and he just (stoyryline wise) got out of jail, and wants to leave all that behind him. That, my friend, would not make him a gangster...

Secondly, the other one (MVP's cocky gimmick) is WAYYYY more annoying. I mean annoying because tht's his character, but there's nothing whiney or anything about his current character, this gimmick is far less whining, as you would know if you watched...

And finally, why can a "high life" person not go to a gangster. Firstly, I said he was a thug, nto a gangster, and sooooo many thugs over the years hae also been rich. But, incase you haven't noticed, they didn't just throw him in this. The storyline was that he was losing so much, and then we saw him sitting in the stands for a few weeks, being pissed off, and then changing his character, to be more ruthless, cause he thinks it can help hhim win.

I see no problem with the change.
