For those who don't know, Muhammad Ali died on June 3rd.

Use this thread to discuss his career, etc etc.

I wasn't ready for this at all.

We have officially just lost the greatest fighter in the history of any kind of fighting. He was the greatest inside, but especially outside of the ring. He challenged structural racism, confronted anti-blackness, and embraced a faith and name long vilified in America. At an impasse when confronting any of the three, asa sportsmen no less, was unheard of.

He defeated the most imposing of opponents, George Foreman and Joe Frazier, fervent war-mongering in Vietnam and racial segregation, without fear or pause. You lifted the heads of Black people everywhere, Muslims everywhere, and marginalized people the word over with your unrivaled charisma, courage, and God-given ability to transcend the bounds of boxing and boundaries. I don't need to go through his accolades as it would take too long and the fact that this was the greatest of all time.

RIP

This is the biggest part of Ali in my opinion. His humanity.

Muhammad Ali was so much more than an athlete, standing up for civil rights and many a social cause.

Of all his quotes, the greatest one to me was the one he said when he refused to perform military service in the Vietnam war.
"I ain't got no quarrel with no Viet Cong. The Viet Cong never called me Nope"

RIP GOAT.

That quote is one of the greatest quotes that I've ever heard. I am sure it has inspired many people, as the career of Muhammad Ali has likely inspired and pushed people to work hard to be the best that they can be.

Personal success is definitely a measure of one's legacy. But having the ability to inspire others to work hard to achieve their dreams is a measure of immortality.

RIP, but you are immortal.

Best boxing event of the decade, if not the century. In my opinion.
