MTV Adds Four New Series, One Special to Lineup

The cable network has given greenlights to "The Heights," "Epic Fail," "Totally Clueless," "This Is How I Made It" and "Dev."

MTV has added four new series to its programming slate and a special centering on an up-and-coming musician.

The cable network has picked up The Heights (working title), a docudrama that follows a group of friends who live, work and play in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. The Heights will be executive produced by Cheryl Horner Sirulnick, George McTeague, Beck Hickey, Craig Sloane and Jim Czarnecki, in addition to Christy Spitzer, Christina Lee and Shannon Fitzgerald. Shane Tilston is production executive for MTV.

The half-hour panel show Epic Fail focuses on embarrassing moments of viewers' lives. Executive produced by Jim Biederman, Evan Mann, Gareth Reynolds, Kara Welker, Brooke Posch and Brent Haynes, the series will feature re-enactments, text messages, status updates and photos submitted by viewers.

Hidden-camera game show Totally Clueless (working title) gives people the opportunity to win cash for figuring out if they are on television. Executive producers include Brian Flanagan, Matt Ostrom, Laura Johnson, Bob Kusbit, Francis Lyons, Tony DiBari and Karen Frank.

The half-hour series MTV's This Is How I Made It acts as an advice show, giving first-person lessons from celebrities on how to succeed. Dave Sirulnick and Ryan Kroft serve as executive producers.

Dev centers on 22-year-old Dev, the female voice on Far East Movement's chart-topping single "Like a G6," who is pregnant. Dev is executive produced by Jason Carbone. Lauren Dolgen, Jessica Zalkind, Jeff Hevert and Jennifer Russakoff are executives in charge for MTV.

The Heights, Epic Fail and Dev are being eyed for a primetime launch, while Totally Clueless will join the daytime schedule. How I Made It will air on Saturday mornings.

Premiere dates will be announced later.

The new projects join previously announced music talk series MTV's Hip-Hop POV, premiering in April, and the premiere of Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew. The network also recently renewed Jersey Shore for a sixth season and will launch the rebooted Punk'd and Jersey Shore spinoff The Pauly D Project this month.

Oh yay, more shitty MTV shows. They really should get back to just playing music videos.

The only one I'm relatively interested in The Heights. Something about seems appealing, though it could turn out to be some serious shit.

I doubt it. The word 'docu-drama' roughly translates to 'spewing crapfest'.

This is what teenager tv is about. MTV is better than HBO when it comes to shows imo.
