LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. -- A Lawrenceburg woman accused of trying to kill her son in a house fire has been arrested.
An affidavit filed in the case says Vanessa Dean set fire Oct. 13 to her Alpine Drive home while her 4-year-old son was inside. An arrest warrant was issued Thursday.
Emergency crews on the scene said Dean told them, "I locked us in and poured gas on everything. I was trying to kill us." investigators said Dean left her son inside the burning home while she escaped, but Dean's mother-in-law and neighbors rescued the boy.
Police said the boy described what happened using one-word answers, telling them "fire," "basement" and "mommy."
Dean was arrested Friday after authorities received a tip that she was at an apartment in Miamitown.
She has been charged with attempted murder, arson, child endangering and neglect.
