Mortal Kombat X – Scorpion was always our favourite

Warner Bros. has revealed a new cross-generation Mortal Kombat game for release in 2015, with Scorpion and Sub-Zero in the trailer.

After multiple different cats escaped from Warner’s burlap bag of E3 secrets they’ve officially confirmed that Mortal Kombat X is really happening, and have released the trailer below.

There are very few details though, with the blurb below not saying anything about what the game is or what formats it will be on:

‘Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience.’

Despite some speculation that it might be a roaming beat ‘em-up in the style of Shaolin Monks the trailer seems to imply a standard one-on-one fighter, including the X-ray moves introduced by the 2011 reboot.

Although officially nothing has been said about formats a leak from earlier in the day from Amazon suggested it was cross-generational, with listing for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Amazon could’ve got something wrong but we should know for sure soon, as the game is presumably going to be on show at E3 next week. Although series creator Ed Boon has previously suggested it wouldn’t be.

[Update: a Warner press release has confirmed the formats leaked by Amazon, and that the game will be at E3. It still doesn't specifically say the game is a one-on-one fighter, but there's not really any other way to interpret this new bit of blurb:

Mortal Kombat X combines cinematic presentation with all new gameplay to deliver the most brutal Kombat experience ever, offering a new fully-connected experience that launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy. For the first time, Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. Players step into an original story showcasing some of the game’s most prolific characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together.]

I'm not sure if the trailer showed in game footage, but it looks impressive so far. More information should be released during E3 and I can't wait.

That looked fucking awesome... and it did look like in-game footage mixed with some FMV.

I think I might play some MK Trilogy on the PS1 before RAW lol

I've been playing MK4 on my PC since I seen the trailer, I'm stoked man. I need to dig up MK9 and replay that as well.

It's a shame they showed Sub Zero getting his ass kicked though, he's always been my favorite in the MK franchise.
