With no main event and just under two months to go, the UFC's Director of Operations for Canada continues to push for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to defend his title against Dan Henderson at UFC 149. The card is set for July 21 from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.Tom Wright, the director for UFC Canada, talked with the Toronto Sun on the importance of placing a marquee match in the top spot for UFC 149. Jose Aldo, the UFC featherweight champion, was expected to compete on the card before being removed for a show in Brazil.

"I would love to see that fight happen. Having Jon Jones defend his championship in Calgary against Dan Henderson - that would be a monster fight," Wright said. "I thing it's really important (to have a marquee) fight."

Jones is recently-removed from his first five-round fight, defending his title against Rashad Evans earlier this month. Henderson has been out of action since a win over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua last year.

Think it only makes sense to have that fight at UFC 149, Hendo hasn't fought in a while and Jones is beast enough to take the fight only 2 months after beating Rashad.

Jones is fucking awesome, his schedule this past year has been hideous yet hes not even been tested.

- Bader was undefeated and hes a good fucking fighter (dont look at the Tito fight)
- The Shogun win looks even better now, considering the war he had with Hendo
- Rampage is a bum, but Jones was the first in 6 yrs to finish him
- Machida is one of the best counter strikers in the game and only stopped once previous, he did nothing
- Rashad was supposedly his biggest challenge at the weight yet Jones fought in first gear and won easily

I don't get why the guy has haters all of a sudden. Yeah I get hes 'mainstream' now so all the hipsters think its cool to hate the successfull guy, but wouldnt you be cocky if you'd beat all these guys he has?

Hendo will be his hardest fight since Bonnar, no doubt, but I can't see him losing. After that he should rightly be ranked #1 P4P, because Anderson Silva is rotten and has fought nobody.

He fights in April then is expected to fight in July? That would keep him on track though for having 4 fights this year. He'll have 3 at least. But UFC 149... that would be huge but it just seems so close. Like very little rest time between his last fight. But UFC 149 def needs a headliner and that would be the headliner.
