- Shawn Michaels recently told WWE officials that he is looking at taking more time off than originally planned. The idea is that Shawn is financially set for life and his kids are at that age where they like him around and he realizes that’s a short window.

The original plan was for Shawn to return at WWE’s SummerSlam pay-per-view but he asked to stay out until late this year or early 2010, in time for a good angle at WrestleMania next year. Of course all of this could change depending on what he’s thinking and if any top WWE Superstars come down with injury. Back in 2007, Shawn was talking about staying out longer after knee problems and when John Cena tore his pec, Shawn ended up returning earlier than he wanted.

Shawn has also made more noise about retiring at WrestleMania but at other times he’s said he doesn’t see why he can’t make occasional appearances like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan have, until he’s well into his 50’s, which is a long way away. He has also mentioned that once his kids are teenagers, being at home so much won’t be as important and at that point he’d be more open to spending more time on the road.

One of the main reasons RAW has been very poor as of late. Shawn is usually the "go to guy" in terms of when the A show is failing a bit.

RAW sucks without HBK, and the WWE will never be the same if he retires. I really hope Shawn decides to come back at Summerslam. The WWE needs him, RAW needs him!

I just died a little..

Nah, he'll come back with a bang just like he did in 2007.

Damn. That's a long time to be away, especially when you don't have to be. If he ends up doing that, at least it'll assure us of a sick angle with him leading into Mania.

Personally, it sounds like a good idea. RAW shouldn't need HBK with all the guys they have over there. Let HBK get rested and come back with a fire lit under his ass. Maybe we'll see something really impressive from him this time around.
HOWEVER...if you're going to retire...don't be like Ric. Don't say you'll NEVER wrestle again.

Hmmm so what about the DX tour in Nov ???? Seems a bit strange to advertise a tour in Nov with DX if one part of the team isn't gonna be there. So it's the HHH tour then i guess lol. Anyhoo i already miss HBK and it will suck if he ain't gonna be back till 2010. I hope he comes back earlier. And IL be super pissed if the DX tour thing dont happen i only got got tix coz it was DX ya know both members not just 1 =/

I liked the last notion. I don't think he's going to retire. He might take another extended leave, and then come back once his kids are old enough, and he'll be in his late 40's going nuts.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder I suppose, although without HBK & Jericho, Smackdown has already leapfrogged way ahead of Raw.
