Alright folks, you are in store for a very special treat this week, none of than Montana will review and discuss Monday Night Raw, and for those who doubt my creditionals, I’ve pretty much seen every episode over the past 14 years, so I’ve seen the good/bad/ and the real ugly. Last week they announced a major steel cage match pitting HHH vs Carlito, in what could be one of the best matches on raw all year. I got a funny feeling in my tummy that Carlito will end up getting the upper hand on this one.

The show kicks off with a jeff hardy promo……HA got ya, Yeah Right, Vince mcmahon kicked off the show. Cut a promo saying how he now accepts Hornswoggle, is sorry, and that he loves him. Vince will interject himself into the main event and he also heard Hornswoggle had a thing for the ladies, and Melina had a big crush on him. Funny segment, a little wacky but served its purpose. Then none other than John Cena comes out to attack Coach/Vince because he can. Coach and Vince ran as Vince decides tonight is a good night to strip cena of the belt, and that Randy Orton is suspended. Kinda odd huh. That segment went about 20 minutes.

Next up Cody Rhodes makes his way down to the ring. He looks good, but they may have plucked him out of development a little early, compared to some of the faces in OVW. Anyways, Lilian announces that his opponent is “Returning to Raw†I woke up, and almost spilled my drink my myself. “Hes Hardcore†….and then I was like huh? “Hes Hardcore Hollyâ€

WHY!!!!!

Hardcore Holly is like 45 and can’t wrestle 3 weeks straight without getting a injury, why not cram him onto the alright crowded raw roster. Although he did start off with a solid 2 line promo, basically saying how cody has to earn his respect. Needless to say, he put young cody Rhodes in his place, very quickly. So for all you Hardcore Holly fans get ready because Holly is going to make a impact! *

Guess what? Condemned is coming out on DVD, so now those who didn’t want to see in the theater, can just rent it for like 2-3 bucks. I’ve heard mixed reviews, so 2-3 bucks might be all its worth.

Then that leads up to another …..â€legend†vs Young talent as Santino Marella takes on Ron Simmons…finally. The match was about 2 minutes, and Santino ran away after Simmons clothesline’d him. Santino is generating some very nice heel heat, and I agree 100% that they made the right move turning him heel. He went from one of my most hated wrestlers, to now one of my fav’s on raw. *

Next up Diva Search promo…..Next

Jillian’s and Melinas boobs hogged the camera, as I don’t recall what they were saying, basically Melina is now the #1 contender for dating hornswoggle.

Onto a Cade/Murdoch promo, as the “returning†highlanders want a shot. So basically they will fill in the funny 30 sec clip for Cryme Tyme.

Onto some real action, as the steel cage lowers, The Almight HHH stomps down the ring, sending the fans into a frenzy. Carlito and Vince quickly come down and the match gets under way, Vince takes a somewhat of a big bump, after standing on the top rope, HHH knocks his balance, and he strattles the top rope. Carltio then sends HHH into the cage, but its time to pay the bills.

Side note, apparently one one member of the Vince / Carlito duo has the leave the cage first. Kinda odd for wwe. The show returns as both sides trade advantage. Basically Vince tries to leave, while Carlito occupies HHH, but HHH kept out doing Carlito and catching Vince. Then basically both HHH and Vince are sitting on the top, as Vince slides down while carlito distracts hhh. Poor ending to a good match. At the end HHH is mad because he lost to vince, and destroys Carlito (again)
***
Since Vince beat HHH, does that mean he’s the #1 contender !?!?!

Next up we have a good matchup between Cade/Murdoch taking on London Kendrick. Highlanders watch the match nearby. Before Long, Kendrick hit the slice bread #2, and the highlanders actually came in a beat up the London/Kendrick, thus turning them heel, it would appear. A interesting twist.
*

Hornswoggle spies on Melina in the show, Marella and Austin give their 2 cents on the condemmed.

HHH walks in on Vince Locker room as he is leaving, and challenges him next week. Vince accepts. Whoo Hoo, can’t wait for that blockbuster matchup.

Time is ticking as the main event Is almost here: The John Cena Surrender ceremony.

The final match of the night will be the team of Jeff Hardy and Candice Michelle taking on Shelton and Beth Phoenix (The Blond Bombshells) Before the match got underway, jeff hardy gave out some glow sticks to the fans, as if he needed more support. Before the commercial break Candice was on the second rope and did a big splash to the outside onto phoenix. A second later Hardy dove off the top onto Shelton. All in all, it was great for a mixed tag, again, another poor ending Pheonix pinned hometown girl Candice with a cradle suplex, which is basically a suplex. **1/2
Probably the best mix tag I’ve ever seen, or can remember.

Which then leads to a special video….

[yt]9vQrruLQl4E[/yt]

I’m rumors all point to Jericho, and the words “save us†are clearly displayed, to me which cancels out the idea of Cyber Sunday, but you never know.

Onto the Coach’s title stripping. The red apron is over the mat and as coach is about to strip Cena, Mr. Mcmahon apparently calls up and says Cena won’t be stripped of the title, but it will instead to be a tables match between Coach and Cena. After Cena makes short work of Coach, it is revealed that hornswoggle made the match. Ha ha. *

Raw Ratings:

Action: 2.0/5

Not much really happened this week, just in the cage match and the mixed tag.

Promos: 2.25

Nothing really stood out.

Entertainment 3.0

Again, nothing that glued you to the tv, but it had a few nice twist.

Overall 2.25

Pretty bad show overall, but there were some pros to the show. It really didn’t feature much wrestling. I actually match per hour. The rest of the time was wasted with diva search, squash matches, Condemmed promos.

Raw Stars

Guys who put on the best performance.

1) Hornswoggle
2) Mystery Video
3) HHH
4) The Coach
5) Santino Marella

RAW would have been a lot better had Orton been at the show (I hear he got married and was given the night off). He needed to be there to further the feud with Cena and could have at least shown up in the tables match. Obviously, I guess the WWE felt that had Orton been there, it would have been to book a realistic show since Cena would have been trying to kill him. A surprise appearance from Orton at the end of the show would have made this a better show.

The cage match was interesting with Vince getting to go over and not Carlito. I guess that really says something. Also interesting is that we have Vince/HHH headlining RAW next week.

Wow, couldn't believe that the Highlanders actually got some kind of direction this week. That has to be a first, and maybe we are heading towards a Triple Threat Tag match. At the very least, it will be the most interesting thing in the tag division since the C&M/Hardys feud.

We also get to see Holly back on RAW which could be interesting. He could have some decent feuds with the likes of Carlito and Umaga. I'll also say that Ron Simmons getting into the ring was pretty cool, I'm glad he is able to go still and maybe we'll get a decent blowoff to his feud with Santino.

All in all, I felt like this was a pretty average show. Hopefully with the suspended stars and Orton returning to RAW next week, we get a damn good show.

Totally agreed about the part where the WWE called Rhodes up too soon from the developmental territory. He still looks so nervous in his matches. It's like he's afraid to screw up.

Logically, what's the point in earning Holly's respect? What has he accomplished?

I can understand if Flair or Michaels was cutting that speech to Rhodes, but Holly?

Great review Montana and I agree whole heartedly on your point of view on some of these things such as the Santino heel turn which is perfect for him but right now I'm very confused with the tag title scene but at least they are using the tag titles now.
