In one of the strangest occurrences in combat sports history, a fighter's finger temporarily disappeared during a Thursday night CFFC event.
In the co-main event, Khetag Pliev was taking on Devin Goodale in a middleweight clash when between the second and third round, Pliev and his corner noticed his left ring finger simply wasn't there. If that wasn't bizarre enough of a scenario, the ring announcer later asked fans in the arena to look for the finger as it was missing.
Shortly thereafter, Pliev's finger was found bent back into his glove as it didn't actually fall off. However, it needed to be reattached as he suffered a severe dislocation. He underwent surgery last night to reattach the finger and is expected to return to action.
A later examination of the fight showed the injury was due to a kick that caught Pliev's hand just right.
Goodale won the fight by second round TKO.
