More than ten years after the passing of Fred Rogers – one of television’s greatest icons – his life story is being adapted into the feature film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Taken from the lyrics of his introductory song to each episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, the picture was written on spec by Alexis Jolly, a writer for The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The spec was recently picked up by Justin Nappi and Kevin Turen’s Treehouse Pictures but no story details are available. Hit the jump for more on the picture and to watch a timelapse of Rogers’ introductions over the years.
Here’s what Nappi had to say about the project:
“Fred Rogers was such an inspirational man for so many people. His keen ability to find the good in anyone, or anything, will make for a truly inspiring cinematic experience. In literally shaping the world around him to fit into his own unique perspective, he created what is arguably the most influential American children’s television show of all time.â€
This would be a decent thing to see but I could see it not getting much attention and many viewers.
