Gotta be a quick one this week. In a bit of a rush to get to bed.... Hopefulyl Raw finthis week after the last two weeks...
Raw:
Opening Segment: Orton and Flair
Orton comes out to start off the show, and talks abou thow he beat Batista. He then talks about how Flair interfering after the match didn't surprise him, as Flair never liked him anyway. Flair comes out to a big pop. He says Orton did a cowardly move, and didn't actually beat Batista. He then talks about how although Orton may think he's the man, he's not. Batista is the man, and until Orton beats him, he's nothing. Orton tells Flair to give Batista a message.... POP! He knocks him out. Rhodes and Dibiase strut out slowly, but are attacked by Batista. Batista beats them down outside, but as he tries to get in the ring, Orton begins stomping all over him, and Legacy joins the assult. John Cena comes running out like nothing happened the night before and clears the ring.
Pretty good opening segment here. Orton was good on the mic, and so was Flair. It just seemed like a believeable promo. The Cena thing is a little annoying, because I'm not sure how being beat down for 20 minutes straight the night before, and barely winning, makes you suddenly all better, but he seemed like it, cause he came running out like he had a fire lit on his ass. I'm sure that'll be talked about elsewhere though. Overall a solid promo, and started Raw off pretty good...
Backstage: Cena
Cena is being interview bny Josh Matthews. He says he overcame the odds the night before, and that at Extreme Rules, the best man will win between Orton and Batista, but that soon, the Champ will be here. As cena leaves, Vickie shwos up, and announces Cena and Batista vs Legacy for tonight.
Decent I guess. I'm liking the main event.
Divas Batte Royal:
Winner: Kelly Kelly
Maryse is on commentary here. It's a bit of a clusterfuck int he ring, but not bad. I believe Rosa Mendes is the firs tout, followed by a Bella Twin. A few more are eliminated, until it's just Beth, Mickie, and Kelly left. Kelly manages to eliminate Beth, which doesn't sit well with her. Beth tries to pull Kelly out of the ring, and as the ref is distracted, Maryse comes over to Mickie (who is down int he corner) and sprays something, I think pepper, in her eyes. Kelly gets up and is confused, but pushes Mickie out of the ring for the win.
Not a bad match. They didn't try to drag it out too much, and had a bit of a twists at the end.
Chavo Guerrero vs Santino Marella
Winner: SantinoChavo begins by attacking Santino, ripping off his shirt, and basically making him look bad. He beats him around for a good 30 seconds.. Santino is in the corner and pretends to have a leg injury for a while, and the ref blocks off Chavo. Santino starts acting stupid, doing his little horn thing, and bouncing off the ropes. Chavo knocks him down though, and dominates, stomping and kicking him. Santino then starts to get serious (kinda, lol) and knocks down Chavo with a punch. He follows it up with some other "big" moves, supposedly surprised by his own power. He wins with a roll up.
Good for a bit of comedy, I guess, although with the match later, I don't this this part was needed. I also don't know why Santino was acting as if he didn't know how to wrestle. He's been an IC champion, so having him look like a fucking moron in there is stupid. Especially nwo that he's a face.
Chavo, from the ring, gets the mic and tells Santino that later, he's gonna face Vickie in a match.
Backstage, Miz is wth Maryse. Maryse is talking french, and Miz then says he doesn't know what she's sayin'. He says that she better respect him, cause he's 4-0 against Cena, Maryse looks disguisted.
Man, Maryse is hot
Matt Hardy Interview:
Matt denies that his title match has anything to do with him interfering in Edge's match the night before. He says he's earned the match, and he'll win tonight.
Hey, this is at least a nice twist. I thought we would end up seeing Jeff on Raw, and them continuing their feud, shitting all over the draft. This at least gives a reason for Matt interfering, and still makes sense, with Matt supposedly getting the match in reward for taking out Jeff.
Carlito and Primo vs Goldust and THE Brian Kendrick
Winners: Carlito and Primo
Goldust starts out, and after sucking, Kendrick yells at him to get out. Kendrick comes in and doesn't fare much better. He gets his ass kicked. Carlito gets the win.
Afterwards, Kendrick yells at Goldust in the ring, calling him garbage, and useless. They stare down like Austin and Rock (>_>) and Hornswoggle comes through the crowd to stick up for Goldust. I guess that's cause Goldust stuck up for Hornswoggle on Superstars at some point. I wouldn't know. I never watch Superstars.
The match was a little longer than I made it seem. It was decent too. I still wish Kendrick and the Colons would get more air time though. It wasn't a bad match. But it should've had more time.
Miz Promo:
Miz comes out, dresed as John Cena. He comes to the ring, with a mic, and brags about how he is still 4-0 over Cena. He then says he preparred a rap remix of Cena's theme song (only problem is, it was his old theme!)
He proceeds to rap. And I literally laughed my ass off. Man, this guy is good.
King eventually comes up to the ring, and starts talking about how calling someone out doesn't mean you beat them, just cause they don't show. He proceeds to call out Batista, Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, and Stone Cold as an example. They trade insults, and Lawler tells Miz to go ask for a match with Cena. Big Show's music hits though, he comes out, talks a bit and tells Miz he has to wait. Miz says he'll wait until Cena beats him, and then, as Show lunges at him, Miz ducks behidn King, and Show hits King. Miz runs away and Show, enraged, locks in a submission hold on King, leaving him lying in the ring.
What can I say? Another solid outing for Miz.
Matt Hardy vs MVP
Winner: MVPJR is now on commentary, in place of King. These two trade grapples and suplexes in the early going. Hardy starts to cheat after a while, uncovering the turnbuckle, and using his cast on MVP. He's in control for the middle part of the match, until it goes to the outside. Outside, Hardy hits the ringpost after MVP dodges, and they get back to brawling inside the ring. MVP controls for a while, and then stomps all ove rHardy's hand. Moments after, with Hardy in the corner, he hits the big boot followed by the playmaker and goes for the pin...
1.....2.......3
Solid match here. It was one of Hardy's longer since the 'injury'. These two obviously have chemistry, so they were able to make it work. A good amatch for the middle of the card...
Backstage, Batista and Flair talk about how Flair is retired. Flair says he wants to come back, and he's gonna call out Orotn next week. Batista looks unsure...
I honestly am liking this whole Flair return Sangle. Alot of unanswered questions...
We then see Chavo trying to get Vickie to jump on him... 'Nuff said
Santina vs Vickie for the Miss Wrestlemania Crown
Winner: Vickie
In the ring, Santina has his stupid voice going. He calls Vickie fat, and also kisses her at one point. Chavo then makes it a No DQ, and when it starts, he comes ina nd attacks Santina. They brawl like they did last night at the PPV, and Santina gets the upperhand, but then Regal comes out of nowhere, and attacks Santina/o, leaving him/her ont he floor. Vickie covers and gets the pin..
Did I honestly just see that? I'll take one of the comedy matches. It's needed, I guess, to appeal to everyone. But two? C'mon. If we have this, did we need the earlier one, with Santino pretending he didn't know how to wrestle against Chavo? It is what it is...
Legacy (Orton, Dibiase, Rhodes) vs Batista and John Cena
Winners: Batista and Cena
Cena and Cody start off, and it's pretty even to start. Shortly after, Legacy is in control. They beat Cena down for a couple minutes, mostly in their corner. Soon, Cena tags Batista, and he fights off Legacy. It's pretty even for a while. Later, Cena gets in, and squares off with Cody. They go back and forth, and Cody looks pretty good. He hits a moonsault a few minues later. After a pretty even few minutes, Cena tags in Batista, and Orton is tagged in for Legacy. They go at it for a while, but suddenly Cena leaves. We they see Big Show hurled over, and Cena chasing him up the ramp with a chair. Turns out Show came out, but Flair stopped him first. Now Flair is at ringside and tosses Cody around. Batista gets Orton with a spear and wins.
Actually a damn good main event. For a TV match, it was pretty good quality. It got a good 10 minutes, got everyone involved, and the chaos at the end was pretty well done. It wasnt' a cheesy run in that ended ina DQ. We got a proper finish, and it continued the Cena/Show fued too. Solid match.
That concludes Raw...
Best Match: Cena/Batista vs Legacy
Worst Match: Santino vs Chavo. Sure, Santino vs Vickie was odd, but at least kinda funny, and served a purpose. Santino vs Chavo was just dumb. What was with Santino looking so weak?
Best promo: Opener with Orton and Flair
Overall, a much improved Raw from last week. The main event, and Hardy/MVP were two solid matches. The other matches were quick, but decent. Except for Santino/Chavo. My main complaint this week is too much comedy. If you call it that. They had it kind abalanced before, this week featured too much Santina for me. Overall, this week wasn't a standout or anything, but much better than last week and the week before. Hopefully they continue to improve in the coming weeks.
3/5 for this week
