Yes, yes, don't be confused by the name. I just lost a bet, one which you'll see the effects of around the forum, such as Monkeystyle's half naked picture of Randy Orton, soon to be a new avatar for BKB, and of course, me taking on the name (for 30 days) of our favorite IWF asshole, Famou$ 187:laugh:
Anyways, figured I'd to a review for this weeks Raw, cause ti actually wasn't a bad one...
Raw:
Orton/MVP Promo:
We open the show with Vickie in the ring. She says she's proud of Edge, and then brings out Orton. Thanfully, too. I was thinking she was going to brign Edge out, and no matter how much I like Edge, with him ebing my favorite and all, I didn't want any more SD guys on Raw, and vice-versa. So, Orton comes out, and has an extended celebration, rubbing it in everyone's face. He then begisn to talk about all his success, and how everyone else in the crowd, and at home, is nothing, or on their way to beign nothing. We get a little video package too. When we come back from the video, MVP has interupted, saying he doesn't take orders. After being confrontational for a bit, MVP says he'll take care of Orton if Batista or Show can't.
MVP starts insulting Dibiase, some of which I missed, because my cable cut out for a minute, bu he goes on to insult them, and how they look like two "Abercromie and Finch" models. LOL! So true!
The crowd is in MVP's corner for sure, and Legacy has to jump in to say their bit. Cody gets some rare mic time, and although sounding a tad awkward at first, he does ok, and warns MVP not to mess with Legacy.
Vickie then announces tonight, MVP will face Randy Orton. (Hell yeah!)
Great promo there. Everyone came out looking good, and MVP showed he still has some of the best mic work in WWE. Awesome stuff. Simple awesome...
THE Brian Kendrick vs Kofi Kingston
Winner: Kofi Kingston
Kendrick starts out with an abbreviated promo, more of just a "message sending", which you couldn't really take much from. It was basically just telling Lilian to make sure he says his name right, or else... Anyways, pretty good match here. They onyl got probably 5 minutes, but this is what I like to see. I missed having some lower card matches that feature just good, energetic wrestlers. Kofi put on a good show, as usual, and picked up the win. Good choice to open the show (match wise), as it wasn't one of those ones that put the crowd to sleep.
Santina, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James, Brie Bella, and Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix, Maryse, Jllian Hall and Rosa Mendes
Winnder: Santina and crew
Not much of a match. Santina gets the pin, and Hornswoggle runs away for some reason, but I'm not sure why, as I was to busy twiddling my thumbs.
This was a bit of comedy and a piss break. No complaints. Am I the only one wondering why the Bella Twins were back togetehr under the ring though? I thought one of them turned heel? Anyway, this was nothing, but not enough to bitch about either.
Also, at least they used both Santina and Hornswoggle in the same segment, and got all that stuff out at the same time, so we don't have to see the midget later.
Matt Hardy vs Goldbust
Winner: Matt Hardy
Hey, I know it isn't much to write about, but credit to WWE for following through witht he Matt Hardy push, and continuing it. It looks like he legitametly broke his hand, so it's good to see them continue to use him, and use it as a way to pick up more heat, instead of not letting him be on the show. Anyway, he picks up the win with the cast to the back of the head when the ref was looking away.
*Orton walks in the hallway. Oh no!*
Randy Orton vs MVP
Winner: N/A
Now this is what I'm talkin' about. Great to see them put MVP in there against a top heel. Playing off the great promo he had earlier, MVP had the crowd in his hand, except for one moron who felt the need to shout "Randy! Randy" all by himself. He was drowned out though...
This was actually a good match, with good back and forth action, and they actually let MVP get the upper hand for a good chunk of thsi match though. It wasn't until near the end that Orton got the definitive upper hand, working MVP over for a minute or so, and tossign him over the rope. That'd be it though, as Shane interfered looking like someone out of old school ECW, and beat Orton black and blue with the kendo stick. Legacy ran out, and Shane took off, and posed in the crowd.
They did a good job with the booking of that I though. As I said, they made the match pretty even, which is good. And Shane's interference was really cool, and done in a good way, with the stick and all, instead of just having him cost Orton the match.

Miz promo:
Miz comes out and cuts a surprisingly good promo. Like I said in a few other threads, he really took advantage of the time he was given on the show. I was fully expecting the usual stuff, like "I had to get rid of Morrison cause he was holding me back" and "I'm the best superstar you've ever seen", and while there was a bit of that, he managed to add mroe, and signifigantly grow hsi character in a matter of minutes. He used his MTV background to his advantage, and if you're like me, and hate MTV, that helps you hate Miz a little more
Solid work overall, and he called out Cena, who, obviously wasn't going to come out, which made himself look "tough" in an obnoxious way. I'm stealing this from Soulpower here, cause he said it first, but I agree... Hopefully this doesn't lead to Miz gettign squwashed next week by Cena.
The Colons vs Noble and Chavo Guerrero
Winners: The Colons
I don't have a clue when Chavo and Noble teamed up, but if it's going to stick for a while, I have no complaints. If this is what WWE is trying to do to add another tag team to the roster, so be it, at least it isn't a makeshift one of main eventers. Anyway, this was a fairly quick match,... Carlito and Primo win, as expected...
Batista Interview:
Batista is interviewed here. He basically says he's the one at fault and all that, and he'll be getting revenge on Orton. I actually would've liked to see more of him being like "I don't care about what happene to Triple H" or something, instead of bacsically kissing his ass. Disappointed with how that interview went.
Orton vs Shane announced for next week!!! (I'm actually liking that)
Big Show vs Batista; Number one Contender Match
Winner: Batista
This is one of those matches that, if it were on PPV, I'd shoot myself for ordering it. So let's hope these two don't go into a full time feud in the future or anything. But, because it was on Raw, it didn't have to be 25 minutes or anything, and just an average match would do. And that's what they did. If it were me, I would've put this match in the Orton/MVP slot, and had Orton/MVP main event the show, and that would've made this match seem better, without it being the main match. Anyway, it had some sloppy moments, and for some reason , I can never get into a Big Show match. I just can't., Anyway, at the end, Show chokeslams Batista, but Cena actualyl does show up, and distracts Show. This was a good move, because it didn't have Cena run down and interfere in the match, as we so often see. Instead, we had him just sort of stare at Show, distracting him (I should mention show was now outside the ring), and got him counted out. My only complaint was, if they were gonna have it end in countout, why have Show chokeslam Batista, and make Batista look like he's not worthy of being #1 contender? If Batista was already a heel, I can see it, cause it makes it look like he stole the match. But when a guy is a face, it's odd to have him look bad before he wins by countout. Then again, maybe that's part of slowly building a Batista heel turn.
Thoughts:
So, overall, this show was pretty good. Match wise, one of the best in a while, as we got to see some good in ring action, but they did it while boasting an impressive lineup of promos as well. MVP impressed me a ton, both in the ring and out. I was also glad to see them stick to their word, and not have any cross brand stuff on the show. It was all Raw guys, and that made the show more enjoyable for me. There's a time for interpromotional stuff, and I'm gladd they see that time isn't now. It allowed us to see a good midcard match between Kofi and Kendrick, and a quick, but decent, tag match as well.
The biggest dissapointment is Batista didnt' do much to build off what happened at Backlash. We didnt' see him do anythign other than half-ass apoligize to Triple H, and win the match in a weird way. On the one hand, the match, with him winnign when he shouldn't have after being chokeslammed, is kinda a heelish thing to do, but as we all know, he kissed the ass of Triple H earlier, and he's kinda back where hew as before Backlash now... Hmm...
Above Average Raw.
