UFC President Dana White announced today that the City of Brotherly Love will get another dose of high-impact welterweight action on August 6th with a veteran vs. prospect meeting.
"Welterweight standouts Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle and Rory ‘The Water Boy’ MacDonald have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 133 in Philadelphia," said White.
This isn't the first time that Pyle has been pitted against a highly-touted blue chip, as when he fought John Hathaway last October, Pyle was expected to wilt against the unrelenting pace of the young Brit. Pyle had other plans though and he rag-dolled Hathaway for three rounds to take an impressive unanimous decision. A decision victory over a very skilled grappler in Ricardo Almeida in March at UFC 128 brought Pyle's current winning streak to three."Welterweight standouts Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle and Rory ‘The Water Boy’ MacDonald have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 133 in Philadelphia," said White.
Macdonald, on the other hand, recently found redemption in a three round beat down of the talented Nate Diaz at UFC 129. A promising young Canadian with excellent skills in all areas of MMA, Macdonald seemed destined for greatness after making quick work of Mike Guymon in his UFC debut, but after fading and succumbing to a late TKO against Carlos Condit last summer, Macdonald had to regroup and returned to make an impressive statement against Diaz.
