Miesha Tate joins Invicta FC 7 broadcast booth as guest analyst

Miesha Tate‘s busy stretch will continue on Saturday when she gets behind the microphone for Invicta Fighting Championships.

Tate, the former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion, will serve as a guest analyst at Invicta FC 7 alongside play-by-play voice Michael Schaivello and color commentator Muhammed Lawal, promotion officials on Monday announced.

Invicta FC 7 takes place at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The main card airs on pay-per-view (9 p.m. ET, $14.95) following free online prelims at Invicta’s website.

The card is headlined by a flyweight title fight between champion Barb Honchak (8-2) and Leslie Smith (6-3-1). In the co-main event, Invicta strawweight champ Carla Esparza (9-2) will defend her belt against Brazil’s Claudia Gadelha (11-0). And in a third title fight on the card, the inaugural Invicta bantamweight belt is up for grabs as Lauren Murphy (7-0) takes on Miriam Nakamoto (2-0).

Tate is fresh off a coaching stint on Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter†opposite UFC women’s bantamweight champ and rival Ronda Rousey. The two meet for Rousey’s title, which she won against Tate in March 2012, in the co-main event of UFC 168 on Dec. 28 in Las Vegas.

In her first fight after losing the title to Rousey, Tate submitted Julie Kedzie in her final Strikeforce fight. But in April, she was stopped in the third round by Cat Zingano, who earned a coaching spot opposite Rousey on “TUF†and a title shot.

But when Zingano suffered an injury and had to undergo surgery, Tate was tapped for both the coaching spot and the rematch with Rousey. Rousey is as high as a 10-to-1 favorite in the fight.
