Cole was once seen as WWE’s unworthy heir, but fans have now watched the company try again and again to replicate him. WWE used several different secondary play-by-play announcers before announcing the hire of ESPN’s Joe Tessitore last month. This spring, Cole signed a new contract that will keep him as the voice of WWE for the foreseeable future.

He's transitioning out of doing a lot of backstage work he said a few months ago, he's no longer the guy running the rest of the announcers

Yeah that sounds familiar, I just had it in my head for some reason that he said was going to be finishing up when he's 60 I think it was.

Yeah for real. Dude went from one of the most hated announcers in WWE, to someone who a lot of people would put on their MT Rushmore of announcers. Very happy to see him staying

I attest a lot to Hunter sort of letting him do his thing and McAfee bringing him back to life.

But dude is great

Cole is incredible.

He was always good at directing traffic, feeding his color people and doing what was asked story-wise. His only real flaw for a while was the passion. McAfee really helped bring that out. He's just incredible.

Glad he's staying around for a while.
