UFC president Dana White announced today that undefeated welterweight prospect Lance Benoist has verbally agreed to make his UFC debut September 17 in New Orleans against always-aggressive TUF alum Matthew Riddle.
Riddle (5-2) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Sean Pierson at UFC 124 last December. All of his pro bouts have taken place in the UFC. Benoist (5-0) is making his UFC debut on the card. He has finished all of his opponents in the first round, with four submissions and one head kick knockout. He was also 6-0 as an amateur. He tried out for The Ultimate Fighter 13, but didn't make the cut. It had been reported late last month by various sources that the 22-year-old was on the verge of signing with the promotion.
