Mason Ryan is expected to be repackaged upon returning to WWE. There has been talk that he'll be used in a bodyguard role, possibly for The Miz or Alberto Del Rio.

This all but confirms the end of Nexus is coming.

What do you think of the possibility of re-packaging Ryan? Kind of surprising given the fact that he was given such a push prior to his injury.

It does seem like a step backwards thats for sure, They did seem keen on making him one of the next big stars in the company before his injury. But this could prove to be a good thing, He isn't capable of carrying himself on the mic not just yet anyway and his in-ring skills need some polishing. Remember he was only in FCW for a short period and had no prior wrestling background.

If he went out on his own though i would just see him as a white version of Ezekiel Jackson...In regards to the bodyguard gimmick it has been overused in recent times. I mean Del Rio and Miz have already had a bodyguard type character behind them so it would come off a little cheap on their behalf and also Ryans. So this is a tricky one, Maybe with some more training and a interesting angle to his character he could do fine on his own.

That one night when Mason Ryan took out Big Show and Kane and RAW ended with him standing tall walking to the back seemingly meant nothing. They did nothing with that specific storyline after that and he went back to just being another Nexus member. Repackaging him doesn't surprise me since he is very green and needs more experience. Having him work as a bodyguard where he has minimal in-ring work would be good for him at this stage. He can train during the week and get better before he is back working singles matches each week on RAW.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sent him back down to developmental before they brought him back up again after he's recovered. In fact that'd be pretty smart to do, but of course, how much better is this guy going to get in the ring?

Keep him in development for awhile, let him gorw as a performer there. He was too green to be used on WWE tv.

He could certainly use some more time in developmental but I dont know if WWE will send him back down or will try to keep him around on television to try to build on what they have started.

I always find it a bit lazy when they just put a green guy he isn't getting over as someone's body guard. Yeah I can see the thinking behind it, but neither Miz nor ADR need a bodyguard, and Ryan would likely just get over shadowed in this role, there are other better ways to slowly build him, like keep him in the tag ranks for awhile, but I too would vote for sending him back to developmental.
