Marlon Moraes vs. Josh Rettinghouse title fight co-headlines WSOF 9 in Las Vegas
In addition to a championship headliner, March’s WSOF 9 event will have a second title fight in the night’s co-main event.
Marlon Moraes (12-4-1) and Josh Rettinghouse (10-2) will fight for the organization’s inaugural bantamweight title at the event, WSOF officials confirmed with MMAjunkie.
As MMAjunkie reported earlier today, welterweight champion Steve Carl (21-3) meets Rousimar Palhares (15-5) in the headliner.
The event takes place March 29 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network following prelims on MMAjunkie.
Moraes looks for his fifth straight WSOF win and his seventh consecutive victory overall. The 25-year-old Brazilian, who’s ranked No. 14 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA bantamweight rankings, has recently defeated the notables such as Miguel Torres, Tyson Nam and Carson Beebe. The XFC vet now has a chance to claim his first major title.
Rettinghouse, meanwhile, recently made his WSOF debut and scored a decision victory over Olympic medalist and Bellator vet Alexis Vila. The 23-year-old has now won three straight fights and seven of his past eight. Eight of the CageSport vet’s 10 career wins have come via stoppage.
