Mark Hunt Eyeing Rematch With Overeem

Appearing on the most recent edition of "The MMA Hour," Hunt revealed he would like to get his rematch against current top contender, Alistair Overeem:

"If they'd like to get me a fight I'd like to get a rematch with Alistair Overeem, you know, when he comes back from his injury or from whatever, his hiatus. You know? I'd like to have my rematch with him. I'd be willing to fight next year so it doesn't matter. If he gets a title shot, that's good on him, so."


The two initially faced off in 2008 at DREAM 5 with "The Reem" defeating "The Super Samoan" via submission in the very first-round.

Yeah there's no way this is happening, I don't even know who Hunt can fight when he gets back, maybe Big Foot Silva or the loser of Nelson/Carwin.

I wanna see it, two guys who actually know how to strike going at it. Hunts not likely to ever be a top HW in the UFC because he has a basic submission game and very little wrestling but standing the guy can wreck anyone the UFC can put in front of him. I'd love to see Hunt vs JDS and/or Hunt vs Reem again.

I just don't see there being any way that fight would happen. Reem is a name. Hunt is just... that guy over there.

Mark Hunt is just a guy to use to get over your prospects. Let him have Overeem.

I can only see this happening if there are a lot of injuries in the Heavyweight division and they basically need someone to fill in to face Overeem.
