Hopefully, the third time is a charm for Canadian fighter Mark Hominick (20-10 MMA, 3-2 UFC).

The onetime featherweight title challenger is set to meet Eddie Yagin (15-5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 145, which takes place March 24 at Bell Centre in Montreal.

UFC officials today confirmed the bout. It's not yet known whether Hominick vs. Yagin will be part of the event's pay-per-view main-card or the preliminary lineup, which is expected to air on FX.

Despite the push of a friendly crowd, Hominick's luck hasn't been so good in two previous appearances in Montreal. Most recently, he was on the wrong end of a tie for the fastest official knockout in UFC history when Chang Sung Jung put him down in seven seconds this past month at UFC 140. (The UFC unofficially recognizes Duane "Bang" Ludwig with the fastest knockout at a little more than six seconds.)

At the record-breaking UFC 129 event earlier in the year, Hominick fell short on points against champ Jose Aldo, though his gutsy performance did nothing to diminish the momentum he'd built prior to the title fight with five consecutive wins. Prior to hitting the skids, he stopped such standouts as Yves Jabouin, Leonard Garcia and George Roop.

Yagin also is looking for redemption. The Hawaii native was outpointed by Junior Assuncao in his octagon debut at UFC 135, which snapped a two-fight win streak that saw him earn the vacant Tachi Palace Fights featherweight title against Bellator vet Joe Soto.

Hopefully Homnick can overcome and win this fight. After losing in seven seconds he needs to get his head around if he wants to beat Yagin.
