He says he thought they were police officers.

However, a man later found out two men who pulled him over were actually robbers.

Winchester Police say on August 25, the victim saw flashing lights in his rearview mirror near Hays Street.

He says he looked behind him and saw what he thought was an unmarked police car.

"They turned the lights off when they pulled him over, and he realized that that wasn't normal," the victim's stepdaughter, who did not want to be identified, said. "But you know in a situation like that, thinking it's police and you're not sure what to do, your automatic reaction is to just do what they say."

The victim's stepdaughter says a man in cargo pants with a utility belt approached his door.

"They got him out, patted him down, asked him for his wallet. The guy took all his money out and gave him his wallet back and got in his car and left," the victim's stepdaughter said.

In all, the robbers took $2,800 from the victim.

Police say incidents like this make it harder for them to do their job.

"People will always be thinking if it's a real police officer that's stopping them or is it not a real police officer," Captain James Hall of Winchester Police said.

Winchester Police emphasized that all of their unmarked vehicles only have blue flashing lights, while the car that allegedly pulled over the victim had blue and red lights.

Winchester Police have released a composite sketch of one of the suspects. They also say they've been stopping white, Ford Crown Victorias in an effort to find the suspects

I feel sorry for the victim, for losing that amount of cash but... that's actually kind of funny. It sure made me chuckle lol
