WEST UNION, Ohio -- A man accused of kicking a West Union police officer in the face several times will spend nearly a decade in prison.
The People's Defender newspaper reported that Phillip Evans, 21, was found guilty of felonious assault on a police officer and sentenced to nine years in prison.
Evans and Timothy Pritchett, 24, were accused of throwing Sgt. Jason Daniels to the ground and kicking him. Pritchett is scheduled to go on trial in October.
Daniels suffered abrasions and a broken nose, but recovered from his injuries.
