A 32-year-old man was arrested in Volusia County on Thursday after ordering a "blunt and some herbs" at a Burger King drive-through, deputies said.
Shawn Porter, of Deltona, was arrested on charges of possession of a felony amount of marijuana.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Porter and another man drove up to the Burger King on Elkcam Boulevard in Deltona about 10:30 p.m. and said they wanted a "blunt and some herbs" -- slang terms for marijuana. The cashier said she could smell marijuana coming from the car, so she jotted down the vehicle's tag number and description and called the Sheriff's Office.
"It's not that it's a major emergency," the Burger King supervisor told the Sheriff's Office dispatcher. "It's more of a nuisance than anything. I wanted to report their tag number because they are smoking drugs in their car."
A deputy ran the tag number and went to a home on Sky Street in Deltona, less than two miles from the restaurant.
Two men then pulled up carrying Burger King bags, and the deputy said he smelled marijuana coming from the car.
Deputies said Porter admitted smoking marijuana while in the vehicle, and a search of the car turned up a marijuana cigarette in the ashtray and two plastic bags with about 28 grams of marijuana.
Porter was arrested and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach. He was being held on $1,000 bond.
