RAYMOND, N.H. -- Raymond police said a man was arrested Friday morning after he was caught driving a stolen pavement roller during a snowstorm.
Police said David Rosseau, 29, of Raymond, was caught driving the pavement roller through snow and slush on Route 27. The officer determined that the roller had been stolen from a construction site in the area. Police said Rosseau's truck was stuck in a ditch, and he took the pavement roller from the construction site to get the truck out. After Rosseau got his truck out, he was in the process of returning it when he was arrested, police said.
“It was called in by another motorist because there were no lights on it. Someone was concerned that another driver might hit it because it was still dark out,†said Raymond Police Cpl. Kerry Pomeroy.
It was pretty easy for police to catch up to the Rosseau.
“He was probably going about 2 to 3 mph. It wasn't a high-speed pursuit by any means,†said Pomeroy.
Rosseau was charged with driving while intoxicated and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police said. “He runs heavy equipment for his job, and he has a Caterpillar key, and they're pretty much all the same,†Pomeroy said.
Rosseau was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be in court on Jan. 23.
