MMAJunkie has reported that the UFC is working towards a middleweight contest between Maiquel Falcao and Tom Lawlor for UFC 134. According to the report, bout agreements are in the process of being distributed.
The card, also known as UFC: Rio, takes place Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
In his last outing, Lawlor halted a two-fight skid with a unanimous-decision victory over Patrick Cote at UFC 121. “The Filthy Mauler†also holds UFC victories over C.B. Dollaway and Kyle Kingsbury.
Falcao made his UFC debut with a decision over Gerald Harris at UFC 123. He earned in a shot in the world’s biggest promotion with a seven-fight winning streak on the Brazilian circuit.
The UFC first trip to Brazil since 1998 is headlined by a middleweight title fight. Champion Anderson Silva will defend his title against Yushin Okami.
