Former TUF winner Mac Danzig has been forced to withdraw from a scheduled UFC 131 fight with Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone due to injury. Danzig had been turning things around a bit in recent months with two wins and a highly disputed loss in his last three fights, including a knockout of Joe Stevenson that earned him a $100,000 Knockout of the Night bonus at UFC 124. MMAWeekly has it:

Sources close to the bout confirmed Danzig’s injury to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday.

Danzig apparently suffered a torn muscle during training that will sit him on the sidelines, and out of the fight against Cerrone in June.

There’s been no confirmation on the extent or the nature of the injury as of yet, and calls to Danzig were unreturned at the time of publication.

The search is now on for a replacement to step in and face Cerrone on the June 11 show.

Cerrone picked up a submission victory over Paul Kelly at UFC 126 in his first UFC fight since coming over as a part of the WEC/UFC merger, and will be looking to continue a three-fight win streak against a new opponent of Joe Silva's choosing. Cerrone/Danzig was scheduled for the main card of injury-ravaged UFC 131, but it is unknown at this time if Cerrone will be staying on the PPV broadcast or not.
