Luke Barnatt meets Sean Strickland in battle of unbeatens at UFC Fight Night 41
A pair of unbeaten middleweights will meet when the UFC touches down in Berlin for the first time in May.
Luke Barnatt (8-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will face Sean Strickland (14-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 41. UFC officials announced the new fight booking on Tuesday.
UFC Fight Night 41 takes place May 31 at O2 World Berlin in Germant. The event features a recently announced headliner between middleweights Gegard Mousasi (34-4-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Mark Munoz (13-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC). The entire card will stream on UFC Fight Pass.
Barnatt earlier this month kept his unbeaten record intact when he ruined the UFC debut of Mats Nilsson at UFC Fight Night 37 in London. Barnatt electrified his home country fans in England with a head kick and follow-up punches in the first round. The “TUF 17″ veteran now has back-to-back stoppages in the UFC after a submission of Andrew Craig this past October in Manchester.
Strickland, from California, stepped up on less than two weeks’ notice for Tor Troeng to take on Robert McDaniel just 10 days ago at UFC 171 in Dallas. He picked up a rear-naked choke victory in the first round. The 23-year-old longtime King of the Cage veteran now has 11 stoppage wins in his 14 career fights.
The first-round stoppages for both Barnatt and Strickland without taking much damage earned them quick turnarounds for their next bouts and the opportunity to stay busy.
With the addition, the latest UFC Fight Night 41 card now includes:
Gegard Mousasi vs. Mark Munoz
Luke Barnatt vs. Sean Strickland
Pawel Pawlak vs. Peter Sobotta
Drew Dober vs. Nick Hein
