Following a story.

HeavyMMA caught up with UFC Owner Lorenzo Fertitta to discuss a slew of topics that have been on the minds of MMA fans and media alike. Fertitta touches upon the following topics:

  • Fighter pay. He speaks on how the undercard fighters of major boxing pay per views and events have lesser payouts than UFC undercards. The other reason for some fighters not having higher pay is
  • The Culinary Union's involvement in Las Vegas and New York. As Lorenzo explains, Station Casinos aren't anti-union, their employees have just chosen to not unionize. Should they wish to, all they would need to do is vote on the topic.
  • The current issues with boxing. Fertitta is well-aware of the long term issues that face boxing with promoters not taking care of the fighters. He doesn't believe that there is anything that can be done to fix boxing either. A lot is because there are many people who don't actually have an understanding of the sport.
The folks at Zuffa have worked out a Good Cop/Bad Cop routine with Fertitta and Dana White. While Dana is the more charismatic and marketable of the two, it is Lorenzo who truly has an untarnished view of the sport.
