Count Lorenzo Fertitta among those with interest in seeing women's MMA reach a higher level. Fertitta, in a recent interview with MMAFighting.com, talked about his feelings towards the female fighters, and how they differ from UFC president Dana White. Fertitta is the CEO of the UFC.

"I've never been against it," Fertitta said. "You know, me and Dana, although we always go on a common front, we don't always agree on everything. The reality is, I'm a fan."

Fertitta talked about how the recent Ronda Rousey-Miesha Tate fight excited him. Rousey won via first round armbar, securing the Strikeforce women's title.

Zuffa, which owns both the UFC and Strikeforce, has only been promoting women's fights since the purchase of Strikeforce. The female fighters have been part of Strikeforce, however, for several years now.

"Let (UFC matchmakers) Joe Silva and Sean Shelby develop a women's league," Fertitta said. "I guarantee you they can do it. They're that good."

The Rousey/Tate fight from Strike force did a lot for the future of WMMA. Dana seems to be coming around on his opinion of it, but it still doesn't seem too likely to ever happen in the UFC.
