NXT The Great American Bash, July 1, 2020:
Io Shirai clashes with Sasha Banks

The Great American Bash returns on NXT! Highlighting the action is a clash between NXT's present and its past as NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai faces WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks in a non-title match. Additionally, Dexter Lumis is sure to finally get his hands on Roderick Strong when they face off in NXT's first-ever Strap Match, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae and Dakota Kai battle in a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the No. 1 Contender to the NXT Women's Title, and much more. Catch it all Wednesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network!

The Great American Bash is coming to NXT, taking place over the next two weeks on USA Network.

The proud sports-entertainment tradition is back, this time under the black-and-gold banner. Dating back to 1985, the event was rekindled in the aughts and now returns once more with NXT's top Superstars looking to leave their mark on its storied history.

As part of the event on July 8, NXT Champion Adam Cole will take on North American Champion Keith Lee in a Winner Take All Match.

Three matchups are already set for next week as well, including NXT's first-ever Strap Match taking place between Dexter Lumis and Roderick Strong. Additionally, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae and Dakota Kai will collide in a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the No. 1 Contender to NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai, while Rhea Ripley will face Aliyah & Robert Stone in a Handicap Match where The Nightmare has agreed to join The Robert Stone Brand if she loses.

No one can say WWE doesn’t counter program AEW anymore for sure. But I ain’t mad at it. I love this type of stuff.

As far as counter programming goes, of course WWE is doing it. It’s been done in the business for ever. Hell, didn’t Vince bring Bret back on TNA’s first ever live Monday show? That was 10 years ago.

Halloween does fall on a Saturday this year and that’s the usual day for Takeovers, so hopefully we do get a Halloween havoc takeover

And tbf, Impact back then got better ratings than NXT and AEW are getting now. At least they were consistently in the 1.1 million range

I just don't rate hard ratings comparisons though with streaming and cord cutting and what not. Would rather look at them relative to what ratings are across the board really. Like I don't doubt interest in wrestling has fallen considerably, but I don't think it's AS BAD as looking at hard rating numbers would tell you.

Not quite as bad as comparing buyrates before and after the Network bc that changed shit instantly but kinda similar to me.

Which is why I’m 100% okay with it.

It’s just some fans say WWE doesn’t care and they don’t counter program at all. I think even Triple H said it. Just shows they actually do.

Most fans are idiots. There are some saying WWE is only calling this The Great American Bash to take a shot at Cody Rhodes.

Not like the 4th of July is around the corner or anything

I think that'd be more believable if WWE didn't already resurrect the Great American Bash once so they were clearly fans of the name. I also think it could be a slight shot at Cody bc he trademarked a few WCW names so it could be WWE saying "haha not this one boyo"

Oh for damn sure I'll be joining in with these Shows. Cole vs Lee is going to be great, and I'm really pulling for Dakota Kai to get that win to face Io who she knows really well being both from Stardom.
