The Wrestling Observer...

Bigger threat: Christopher Shays or the.Undertaker?

Linda McMahon is putting the Republican nominating race for U.S. Senate against Shays on hold this weekend so she can attend to, ahem, a family.matter.

McMahon's campaign confirmed that the entertainment mogul turned two-time Senate candidate is heading to South Florida Sunday for WrestleMania XXVIII, where her son-in-law, Paul Levesque, better known as "Triple H," will be pitted against the Undertaker in a steel cage match that is one of the headline bouts of what many consider to be the Super Bowl of.wrestling.

McMahon, who turned over the reins as chief executive officer of WWE to her husband, Vince, two years ago to run for Senate, was not immediately available for comment.Monday.
Her attendance at WrestleMania could pose a somewhat unique challenge for her campaign, which has marketed McMahon as a visionary in the male-dominated corporate world, but has used the WWE brand sparingly, seemingly in an attempt to keep female voters in the.fold.

McMahon is expected to leave Florida with more than just a.tan.

Between ticket and merchandise sales, pay-per-view orders and travel packages, the 2011 installment of WrestleMania, held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, generated $36 million in gross revenues, said Robert Zimmerman, a spokesman for Stamford-based.WWE.

"We're tracking to gross more (in ticket sales) this year," Zimmerman said in a recent.interview.
A crowd of more than 70,000 is expected to fill Sun Life Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins, for the spectacle, according to Zimmerman, who said most of the tickets for the event, which start at $25, are sold.out.
On the ticket resale website StubHub.com, sellers were asking $9,000 for ringside seats to WrestleMania as of Monday.afternoon.

Though it varies by cable operator and type of television service, standard definition versus high definition, pay-per-view runs about $55 per household, Zimmerman.said.
This year's event will mark the return of The Rock to the ring for a tilt with John Cena in what the WWE is billing as a once-in-a-lifetime.match.

It also will pit Triple H, McMahon's hulking son-in-a-law and an imposing figure at major campaign events two years ago, against the Undertaker, who has won 19 matches in a row at.WrestleMania.

Next year's event will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the home of both the New York Giants and.Jets.
The office of New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie, in touting the benefits of hosting the event, noted on its website that WrestleMania has generated more than $200 million in cumulative economic activity for its host regions the last four.years.

Not sure whether this is good or bad? Why can she not just give up this senate crap?

Why shouldn't she be there 2 support her family ? All politicians seem 2 protect their family images, so she would look terrible if she didn't attend the company's most important annual event. im glad she'll be there.

If she doesn't get knocked on her arse my care cup is empty, that was all she was ever useful for.

Oh it'd be horrible if she did though, lol. She needs to give up so WWE can actually bring back some of its roots. 2009 was unbearable and it was mainly because of her crappy campaign.

Yeah but back then it was cool to be a wrestling fan (I think). It's definitely similar to it but it was a style that worked then, in the modern age, this sort of "smiley smiley superman babyface" doesn't work. There can't be another Hulk Hogan in this era, there can however (in my opinion) be another Stone Cold. Back then it was like "Yay Hulk Hogan will sort them all out!!", where as now it's "For god sake John Cena won again. Boring."

It's quite interesting that the only time WWE has made the "news" in recent history, is when CM Punk done his shoot last summer and when CM Punk "feuded" with Chris Brown. That's the sort of headlines WWE should get to get publicity.

And thank you very much :)
