lighting flare help

What is the best way to create light flares like in this sig below?



Ive tried drawing a line then using inner glow, outer glow, stroke etc but it doesnt turn out as nice as the flares in the sig

Anyone got any tips?

I'm not 100% sure. someone will probably suggest something better than me but I would suggest looking for brushes like that ones like light beams and playng with the inner glow and such. Like I said not 100% sure but I tried. :)

-make a star in orange color (tuts would help u on how to make a star)
-duplicate the layer and make it soft light
-add some bluring to it.
-duplicate and add low profile sharpness.
-duplicate and add glow (white)

then voila!
