Leonard Garcia vs. Matt Grice set for UFC on FX 3
Leonard Garcia (15-8-1 MMA, 2-4 UFC) meets Matt Grice (14-4 MMA, 1-4 UFC) in a featherweight matchup at UFC on FX 3.
UFC officials today announced the new contest.
UFC on FX 3 takes place June 8. No host city or venue are set for the event, which is part of the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown promotion, in which fight fans vote on the location.
Regardless, the event's main card airs on FX, and FUEL TV and Facebook are expected to carry the prelims. The placement of the bout on the evening's lineup has yet to be revealed.
Garcia looks to break a two-fight losing streak after dropping consecutive fights to Nam Phan and Chan Jung Jung. The fight with Phan was awarded the UFC 136 "Fight of the Night" bonus – the fourth such bonus for Garcia in his past six fights.
Garcia had been expected to face Tiequan Zhang at this past February's UFC 144 event, but injury forced "Bad Boy" to withdraw.
Grice fights for the second time at 145 pounds. The former lightweight, who went 1-3 during his first run in the UFC, went on a four-fight win streak following his release and returned to the UFC as a featherweight. Unfortunately, his return was soured by Ricardo Lamas, who scored a first-round TKO.
