Matt Grice is out of his scheduled UFC bout on October 8th with Nam Phan due to injury, but Leonard Garcia has quickly stepped in to fill the spot and verbal agreements are in place, confirmed UFC president Dana White today.
Garcia and Phan previously battled to what many considered the most controversial decision of 2010, with Garcia taking home the W at the TUF 12 Finale last December. Their first rematch was postponed due to Phan's injury. Now, they will finally meet once again to settle the score.
To all the world, it looked like Phan had handily taken home a decision win in that fight, but the judges believed differently and Garcia had his hand raised. Dana White was so annoyed, he ended up giving Phan his win bonus anyway. This will give Phan his shot at justice, and Garcia will be out to prove that the first win was no fluke or miscarriage of justice.
