Former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley says a decision will be made within the next few weeks on whether he's going to sign a contract with TNA to join the promotion as a wrestler. Meanwhile, Lashley didn't close the door on possibly returning to WWE.

Lashley said on the Hits the Ropes radio show this week that professional wrestling is "in his blood" and he wants to wrestle while training for MMA fights, including his June 27 fight against Bob Sapp. He said would prefer to wrestle for TNA over WWE.

"I had some sit-downs with (TNA president) Dixie Carter. We're working something into the (Main Event Mafia) angle to be part of their show," Lashley told Daris Brown on HTR radio. "Being a professional wrestler is in your blood. Wish I never left it in the first place, but under the circumstances, I did."

Lashley left WWE two years ago on poor terms to begin a full-time MMA career. However, he did not shoot down the idea that he could return to WWE.

"I'd rather not talk about it too much," Lashley said with slight hesitation. "I've been in talks with TNA. If people are going to see me coming back, it's probably going be with TNA."

Lashley was asked whether TNA brought him into the promotion too quickly since he hasn't been on TNA TV in several weeks. Lashley debuted in TNA by ambiguously pointing toward feuding Main Event Mafia and Frontline wrestlers. Lashley offered a not-serious and serious explanation for the angle.

Not-serious: "Maybe I just wanted to come and point," Lashley said dryly. "I didn't say I was fighting anybody. Maybe I was just saying 'good show.'"

Serious: "Dixie's smart enough to know that you want to bring people into your organization that have cross-marketing appeal. Why not bring me into their organization? Why wait until I'm so busy with MMA work that I can't do anything but fight? She's still wanting me to have an opportunity to fight."

Lashley was also asked about the recent MMA news that Kimbo Slice signed with UFC to appear on The Ultimate Fighter show. Lashley said he would have wanted to appear on the show, but his management team shot it down.

"Wouldn't do anything for my career," Lashley said. "Not going that route. Would have loved to have been on the show just to fight, but have to go with the people who are directing my career right now."

TNA has high hopes for Matt Morgan, who is currently just starting an angle with The Main Event Mafia. They feel he has all of the tools to be a main event star, and want him to be classified as a ‘homegrown’ star as after his mostly forgettable WWE run they totally repackaged him from the ground up.

Matt Morgan has lots of potential, TNA just needs to book him right and not bury him like WWE did. As for Lashley, I don't think he has a place in TNA. The roster is fine as it is, and his MMA career is going to keep him on a part time schedule.

Thoughts?

I often wondered just wtf happened to Bobby Lashley. He just disappeared after those cheesy appearances on TNA.

I noticed that with Matt Morgan. I think he's going to fight Sting which could be a huge push in his career. A massive step up from fighting Abyss indeed.

Then again, if he loses...well, we all know the depush it meant for Christopher Daniels.
