Laredo Kid underwent emergency surgery this morning.

A message was posted to his Instagram on Monday stating that he was taken to the hospital following his match against El Hijo del Vikingo on Sunday evening. The nature of his injury or what led to him needing emergency surgery is not currently known.

"I don't know how or where to start with this news. Unfortunately, yesterday Laredo Kid had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital at the end of the championship fight in Monterrey," a translation of the Instagram post reads.

"Promoters/events with dates scheduled in the following months: due to the seriousness of what happened, the recovery time is not yet known, any questions or comments I will be answering msg, emails, for the moment avoid calls."

"Thank you very much to Taurus, Roberto, Abraham, Jorge, and AAA for being on the lookout all morning, and to my closest people thanks for the support. Send your good vibes, prayers, and energy so that he gets out of this soon."

Laredo Kid defeated Vikingo in the finals of the AAA Showcase tournament in Monterrey on Sunday. He won a triple-threat match against Toscano and Villano V Jr. earlier in the show to advance to the finals.

Yikes. Don't know what the injury was, but doesn't sound good .Hopefully he recovers soon and well. Seen enough of him to know he's got talent and him not being around is a void in the Lucha scene.

That does not sound pleasant. Glad he will be okay long term, but still, two months of nothing before he can even really rehab himself, ouch.

Laredo Kid is back home after spending nine days in hospital.

The 35-year-old required emergency surgery after suffering ruptured intestines during a match with Vikingo on October 23 from Monterrey, Mexico.

Laredo Kid spoke with The Laredo Morning Times on Monday about his injury and the emergency surgery it required.

"As I ended my fight with Vikingo, I had to be transported to San Vicente Hospital immediately and had to receive emergency surgery, as one of my intestines have become ruptured during the fight,” Laredo Kid said. “It has been the toughest battle I have ever fought in my career and life.”

“After being hospitalized for nine days and fighting for my life, I want to tell everybody that I am back,” he continued. “I am back at my house with my family and my children, and it is thanks to all of you -- and all of my Laredo fanaticos -- that I am better, because you all sent your well wishes, vibes and prayers. I really want to thank you all for always wanting to stay updated about my condition, and I especially want to thank my company Lucha Libre AAA that was always looking as to how I was doing.”

Lucha Maniaks Promoter Ishaan Idnani-Ramos says they are taking things "day-to-day" regarding a timeline for Laredo Kid's recovery and return to the ring.

“He will be back and better than ever,” Idnani-Ramos said. “Right now we just wish for a speedy recovery and the best of vibes.”
