Konnan was interviewed Wednesday night on the “Between The Ropes†radio show last night. Here are some highlights:
- Konnan anticipates about 20,000 people will attend this weekend’s TripleMania supershow promoted by AAA. TripleMania will feature stars such as Sabu, Lita, X-Pac, Ron Killings, and Rikishi.
- Konnan said AAA is being run by Antonio Pena’s nephew, who is more organized than the late Mexican promoter.
- He said there is less politics and “BS†in Mexico.
- Konnan said it was hard to leave TNA because he has lots of friends in the company, but he said he was tired of being lied to and disrespected. He said he couldn’t get a raise. Konnan said they were always “low balling†him.
- “The bottom line down there is that unless you are kissing Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantel’s asses you are not going to get a push,†Konnan said. “Dixie Carter has her head in the sand.†He said Carter doesn’t show up to half of the shows.
- Konnan said he is waiting for his TNA release. He said if he doesn’t receive it, he will further bury the company.
- He said across the board, the TNA talent is frustrated.
- He said the X-division guys can’t work PWG, ROH, etc., which isn’t fair because they are independent contractors. He said you are an employee in TNA, but they don’t have to give wrestlers benefits, health insurance, etc.
- He said TNA does not drug test, and WWE’s wellness policy is a joke, just look at there three champions, “if they aren’t on the juice, I don’t know who is,†said Konnan.
- Konnan said he just did an interview with the Washington Post.
- He said in UFC, if you get caught with steroids you are busted.
- Konnan said a lot of the wrestlers speaking out are toeing the company (WWE) line. He said it was 'coincidence' that Bret Hart’s nephew got a job this week, and Ted DiBiase wants to get his son into the company as well.
- He said Vince McMahon pushes big guys because he likes being a big guy.
- Konnan said about 90% of full-time wrestlers are on steroids and/or growth hormones, and about 30 to 40% over use or abuse drugs.
