Ian Kinsler and Dustin Pedroia are the two best 2nd basemen in baseball when it comes to fielding and hitting. These guys battled for the same spot at Arizona State, which Pedroia won, Kinsler transfered to Missouri where he had tons of success. Both went through the minor league system quickly and immedately made an impact upon their debut. Kinsler is the all around better hitter, but Pedroia has the better glove up the middle. Kinsler is the best leadoff hitter in baseball, and Pedroia is known for his fielding and clutch hitting.
Kinsler's stats -

Hits - 165
2B - 41
3B - 4
HR - 18
RBI - 71
SB - 26 (...out of 27 attempts...he'd be 26 for 26 if they didn't count pickoffs as a stolen base attempt)
OBP - .375
SLG - .517
BA - .319
Pedroia's stats -
Games - 127
Hits - 170
2B - 40
3B - 2

RBI - 64
SB - 12
OBP - .363
SLG - .479
BA - .318
Kinsler obviously has the better stats of the two, but these aren't defensive stats. Kinsler has a great number of RBI's for a leadoff hitter. Pedroia has more hits, and they're about tied for Doubles, and Batting Average. So who do you think is the better of the two?
