A record-setting 6.1 million viewers tuned in to watch Kevin “Kimbo Slice†Ferguson enter the Octagon with Roy Nelson, who earned a second-round technical knockout over the Internet backyard brawler Wednesday on “The Ultimate Fighter 10,†according to a press release from Spike TV.

The fight is now the most watched ever on Spike TV, topping Quinton Jackson and Dan Henderson’s middleweight battle at UFC 75 in September 2007, which garnered 5.9 million viewers. A replay of the episode also gained 1.5 million viewers in the 11 p.m. timeslot.

Overall, the series’ third episode drew 5.3 million viewers for a 3.7 household rating, ranking it the most-watched episode of an original series in the six-year history of the channel, said Spike TV.

The episode topped all male demographics, drawing a 6.9 in Men 18-34 (2 million), a 5.4 in M18-49 (3.1 million), and “drew more Men 18-34 than anything else on television this week thus far, except Monday Night Football on ESPN,†according to Spike TV.

The ratings show a whopping 33 percent rise from the season’s first episode on Sept. 16.

HOLY SHIT

This puts dollar signs on Dana's eyes for sure. Win or lose, people tune into see Kimbo, which means they will pay to see Kimbo. Kimbo is in the UFC despite TUF.

He's got the Cena effect of MMA....half tune in to see him lose, half to win.

Good comparison there. I wonder if RAW's "Did you know segment" will exclude Spike tv when they mention their ratings?

Edit: I read this update as well....

Keep in mind this total doesn't include DVR viewership, which last season for the series on average increased viewership 39%.

I think Dana is going to get a celebrity or much more of a well known fighter on every season. Next season will come and go and without a Kimbo Slice it will probably turn into last season lol.

This season kicks so much ass. This must really piss Vince off STILL.

Kimbo deserves to take the injured guys place not just because he will bring in viewers but that fat fuck Roy Nelson layed on top of Kimbo. Nelson used his weight to win. He does not have bragging rights over Kimbo and this is coming from someone who used to shit on Kimbo. I'm beginning to like Kimbo all he wants is an opportunity and he deserves one.

You can say that to an extent but Kimbo did jack shit to get out of that mount and just laid there like an ass. I think had they stood them up Kimbo may have come at him and knocked his ass out eventually...but he's simply not good enough yet to stop the take down and block the mounts and shit.

Kimbo could of definitely did more to avoid the inevitable knee across the arm in the first place, which was Nelsons desired set up. But also, Nelson had over 30 pounds on Kimbo. No other divison in the UFC would have that kind of weight gap between fighters in a reasonable contest. Kimbo got robbed plain and simple.

I could see an exhibition bout between Lesnar/ Kimbo in couple of years time (100 million viewers) How awesome is that Dana?

that match actually sorta killed mma in a way for me, it was a discrace to the sport.. but, those numbers are huge.. so i guess we'll expect to see Kimbo more, regardless if he wins again, or loses.
