Killer Kross had talks with AEW, was planned for singles match

W. Morrissey wasn't the only person who was pitched to be a part of the Wardlow/MJF storyline.
Morrisey had an impressive showing on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite that saw him lose to Wardlow. However, Fightful Select has learned that another name was pitched and even approached about being in the role.

Killer Kross, formerly Karrion Kross, was approached for the match against Wardlow. However, we're told the two sides couldn't come to terms for the appearance and decided against it. At the ROH Supercard Of Honor Post-show scrum Tony Khan said that he enjoyed Killer Kross and Scarlett's work and he was open to doing something with them in the future. Kross was approached by AEW after those comments and a tentative plan for him to work the May 4 show was mentioned.


Where we've heard that talks fell apart was as the date got closer, Kross became aware that his wife Scarlett would not be a part of the presentation in All Elite Wrestling. Kross was concerned that his introduction to the AEW audience would mimic that of his WWE debut against Jeff Hardy, as opposed to the successful NXT formula that helped lead him to two NXT Championships.

Those that we've spoken to believe that AEW and Kross are on good terms and there's a possibility they'll do business in the future.

I'm not sure losing to Wardlow does him any favors though a tv spot and payday is nice. I can see why both Kross passed and why TK might not want to pay for a Scarlett booking fee for a one off entrance as well. Says they are on good terms so I think this was a wise decision anyways. Morrissey needed that spot way more for his image so I think all ended up working out pretty good.

Will be interesting to see if we see Kross pop up at a later time in AEW or ROH.

Yeah with Morrissey it made sense to me, but with Kross I think he's right to want the whole package put together. To me it sounded almost like Tony was thinking of it as being a limited time thing maybe even one night.

yeah I dont think hes been offered a contract, and quite frankly, I'm not sure Kross is looking for one. Indies are hot again and these bigger released dudes have big booking fees. He's also not signing for Impact again ever so its pretty much AEW or be a FA. Until at least ROH has an announced show and roster, I dont think AEW is a good fit for Kross either. House of Black kind of do his NXT gimmick already (i know its different but its similar themes) so ya. I'm sure we will see him again somewhere soon.

Probably for the best that match didn’t happen at that point. He didn’t need to lose; kinda felt the same way about Morrissey.

After how WWE treated him when he went to Raw I rather he stay out of AEW for right now. Time to get hot and repair his image then in a few Months time or so maybe they can come to some kind of solid agreement.
