It appears that the wear-and-tear of being in the ring is finally catching up to a top WWE star. More than one source backstage says that Kane may only have a year or so left in the ring before he has to step away, and claims that he feels pain after matches for much longer than the average WWE wrestler.

Nagging injuries he’s acquired over the years have built up, and Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, is showing signs of his body finally having enough.

One source claims that Kane generally doesn’t care much the storylines WWE “sticks him withâ€￾, but he remains committed to performing at a high level for the company despite his physical pain.

Who knows whether it's true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. Kane's been doing this shit along time.

I hope he goes on for another two years or so. But if he decides to step down then the WWE should at least give him a credible title run before his retirement.

Kane was an amazing character, sad to see that his career is soon coming to an end. :(

He should be taken off TV for a little while, then bring him back all regenerated...by that I mean his character!

He needs to be feared, much like he was when he was first unmasked!

All that potential wasted when he was so over in 1998 during his fued with Austin leading to HIAC match at KotR '98, but the fucktarded bookers didn't want him with the WWE title that long and only gave him bullshit 1 day title reign.

Such a damn shame... :smh

I've been a "Kane-i-nite" lmao since Mid 1999. It's a damn shame that the WWE creative team royaly screwed up his character. He could have been an awesome monster heel world champ, much like Vader in wCw. But he was slowly turned into a mid-card out of shape jobber. When he was feuding with HHH back in 2003? I honestly thought he was getting a title push, but he was then just unmasked, biggest mistake of the debocle that is "The Big Red Machine/Monster" he was way more intimidating as a maksked monster, not some Shrek look alike. But after being unmasked for a good 6 months or so the WWE went back to what made Kane so awsome in the early stages of his character. A unemotional crazed monster taking out everything in his path (Royal Rumble 2001 for example). That brings up another fuck up, the way he dominated in that match he should have won. But then again he did lose to "Mr. Attitude era" but he was getting repackaged as the monster and a title reign would have done wonders.

He should speed it up and retire now. Kane has sucked for years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Despite his lack of a World Title reign, Kane still had a pretty impressive career. Great feuds with Mankind and Undertaker, he's been putting over the younger talent and he's been loyal to the company since first putting on that mask (I know he was Dr. Yankem before that). Kane had a good career, he stepped back into mid card but most of the greats have ie. Flair.

A break wouldn't heal the long term injuries, but if they had a storyline that gave him a while off then brought him back with his mask and a bill him as a monster just destroying people, not taking many bumps then that could put him in a title shot plus hopefully give him a little bit longer before having to retire.

He's been wrestling straight for a long time now, I can't really remember when he last had a break away. Taker has had numerous breaks, but it seems Kane is always there. Major props for that.

Retirement?... OR REMASKING?

Nah he definitely needs to quit soon. He's wrestled straight for pretty much ten years and never looked like returning to his best period in the late 90s.

Kane really hasn't had many breaks since 1999. I never thought about it. Props for that and he has had a great carrer, one most people would wish to have. How many people other then Nash, Punk, Hogan and a select few others can say they won a World Title (No matter how short a reign) within a year of their debut?

That sucks. I felt for a while that he was underated. And going for 10 years straight is impressive.

One source claims that Kane generally doesn’t care much the storylines WWE “sticks him with”, but he remains committed to performing at a high level for the company despite his physical pain.

You can tell this is true though. He just floats around, jobbing or putting guys over, and being in any old storyline, no matter how dumb or un-thought-out it is. Remember that great Kelly Kelly's secret boyfriend storyline... neither do I.

I will always maintain that Kane could have been a massive player in the WWE if it weren't for horrendous booking, and it's a shame that he's thinking about retiring with so many "What ifs?" hanging over his career, but at the end of the day I respect him for sticking with something he loved for so long even as his potential achievments were taken away from him by girlfriend storylines and de-masking.

It's a shame though. He makes a far better monster than the Big Show ever has done, and is still one of - if not the best - big man in the business.
