It is the comeback that nobody expected.
But it has been reported that Justin Timberlake is set to reunite with his old pop band 'N Sync for a special performance at the VMAs this weekend.
Despite the fact he's now a hugely successful solo artist who rubs shoulders with the likes of Jay Z, Justin is said to be joining members Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatric at the event according to PageSix.
MTV announced that Justin will be performing at the awards show, as well as receiving the Video Vanguard Award.
But while they haven't confirmed an 'N Sync reunion, another source has told UsWeekly that MTV producers are 'trying to make it happen' and that a reunion is 'coming together'.
However, it could be a frosty reunion for the boys who have not been pictured together since their split.
Last year, member Chris Kirkpatrick admitted that the group were not invited to Justin's wedding to Jessical Biel.
‘I wasn't invited to the wedding and from what I know it's because he didn't want all of us there.’
But Chris explained he believed Justin was keen to avoid the band taking the spotlight away from his blushing bride.
Chris said: ‘It would be a reunion rather than a wedding. It was her day. She's amazing so he wanted to make sure it was about her.’
Justin has also admitted that he looked 'like a moron' during his days with the band.
The band put out their greatest hits package back in 2005, but first announced their hiatus in 2002 after wrapping up their Celebrity tour.
Following a string of hits including Bye Bye Bye, Girlfriend and Gone, the boys went on to sell a total of 50 million albums throughout their career.
But while Justin went on to forge a successful solo career, other members of the band have faded into obscurity.
The MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center this Sunday.
